Mixmaster Mike is a legendary DJ. In 1994, rumor was that him and QBert were asked to retire from the DMC World Championships to avoid monopolizing the title. Him & Qbert became judges in 1995. He was a founding member of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz, one of, if not the best turnbalist crews. He also created the Tweak scratch.

The Beastie Boys are the best selling rap group of all time, by far. They released 8 rap albums from 1985 through 2011. The first of which went Diamond, and the other went at least platinum, double platinum, and even triple platinum.

Beastie Boys (1979-2012 Adam Horowitz, Adam Yauch, and Michael Diamond ---Adrock, MCA, Mike D) were there alongside Run DMC, the Fat Boys, Grandmaster Flash and Curtis Blow from the beginning. They helped Rick Rubin start Def Jam records, discovered LL Cool J. They were the first rap group to sell a Platinum album. Their debut album, License to Ill is still the biggest selling rap album ever. Run Dmc and Jam master Jay are the Kings of Rap but the Beasties are the crowned princes.

If you want their modern 2011 sound check out "Non-Stop Disco Powerpack" or "Pop Your Balloon". If you want their 80s sound check out "The New Style", "Rhymin & Stealin", "Shadrach". If you want their 90s sound check out "Jimmy James", "Pass the Mic", "Get It Together ft Q-tip" "Super Disco Breakin", "The Move", "Unite", if you want their 2000s sound check out "Ch-Check It Out", "Right Right Now Now", "An Open Letter to NYC",

Honestly, objectively, its always been hard to say because he came to them later on. He is definitely, part of the essence of the Beastie Boys. His role was pretty much the same as Rick Rubin and MC Run during, their earlier, DefJam years. There are some stories of how MC Run would pitch them ideas, that coach them into some of their hit tracks like Paul Revere, etc. MMM had a similar moment with the intro call to this track.

It's three MCs, rhyming in a style that people don't rhyme no more. They trade off lines to each other, much like how it was done in early days of hip hop. it funny to hear you say "I'm trying to figure out the dynamics of this group, are all these guys in the group? which one is the DJ?" Dude, it's not only in the video but it's the god damn title of the song. 3 MC's and 1 DJ. what is so hard to figure out? It's right there in front of you happening on the screen, all 3 are rhyming and one dude is DJing, what are you confused about? it's wild that teenagers today have no clue about Hip Hop culture. or can't even figure out the obvious.
