I played this in the late 80's in Valrico, FL. It was inside a Magik Market C-Store next to Skate or Die. Next to the C-Store was The Cove Skate Shop. I would skate up to the skateshop admire all the tony hawk boards and independent trucks, then get junk food from the C-store and and play the crap out of these arcades. A great capcom gem. What time to be alive it was.

I have this game for the PS2 and I am Addicted to it! It is very similar to the arcade version in almost every way. In the arcade version the blue-and later orangish-"jelly-like" things stay longer on screen where as in the PS2 version, if they go off screen they disappear. Also, the guys with shield and Axe, if they hit you and you don't have a potion you get poisoned! The Venus fly trap things that pop up, regardless of color will poison you as well! If you get poisoned you lose your ranged weapon: the daggers! Oh, by the way, you missed several "hidden" things! Right from the start, go to the left and break the wall to reveal a "beehive" looking object. It gives you 30 more seconds of time! In the first dungeon, also go to the left and break that wall to reveal an item that gives you more points! And, just behind the last shop keeper, to the left as well, break the wall to reveal an elephant that gives you 500 zenny! Like I said, I LOVE this game!!!

Probably my favorite arcade game of all time. I have first played it back in 1989 and fell in love with it right away. I remember being able to beat the whole game on a single quarter and even end up with more lives after beating the final boss than the three that I started with. I wonder if I could still do that if I picked up this game today?

I remember beating this game as a kid. Local store within walking distance of my house always had one arcade game. This one became an obsession. Hard as hell but loved it! And this guy forgot to hit the walls. There were always hidden items in them.

I'm guessing it was either recommended or I more than likely thought the name "Black Tiger" sounded interesting so I added it, then forgot about it. Kind of reminds me "Magic Sword" by Capcom or "Rastan" in the gameplay. It's very cool that you can upgrade weapons and armor in this one, though. Thanks for the excellent review, you got the voice talent and knowledge to make some great reviews.

Usually all my mame roms are classic I enjoyed when I was younger, but oddly enough I had this in my collection, and I honestly have no idea how I heard about it or why it was there so it's funny you are showing this in a review. I had no clue where it came from, but I enjoyed it and played it for about an hour. lol

I just helped the staff at my local arcade solder a free play button to a Black Tiger arcade machine. Fun game indeed, and one of 2 games I decided to try because it was referenced in other media (Black Tiger played a big role in the book Ready Player One; The other of the 2 games is Clash at Demonhead and we all know what movie/comic series made me want that game......)

Anyone else thought the hero's mace fired spikes, when the blades were flying? I always did as a kid. And it was odd seeing the side cabinet art the hero was missing an arm, and was replaced with the mace, attached at the shoulder. o.o

Less than a year ago, my best friends and I were actually playing this game and we were doing fairly well in it, until we reached the boss of stage 4 which is some kind of lizard knight or dragon knight, no matter how hard we tried we just couldn't beat him, we were hitting him but never ever noticed his vitality go down, we use to watch other youtube videos about it but they didn't really help, eventually I'll get back to this and give it a legitimate shot.

Had one of these come through my work several years back. I had just gotten paid and could afford it, but the boss had a rule where we couldn't buy anything unless it had an hour on the floor for the customers. Was so pissed.

The Japanese version makes enemies a bit hard but they really turn the screws on you by making weapons and armor much more expensive than the US and European versions.

I was browsing my inbox today when I noticed that this little video was sent to me. As far as I know I have not subscribed...which is an actual shame! Thanks to this video being brought to my attention I can remedy that right away. Do you take arcade game recommendations? I got a few that I love to play every now and again. With that aside the video is much more professionally done than what I initially thought. Normally videos that get sent to me are of low quality but from what I can tell, this is far from the case. The audio for the voice could be raised abit more over the arcade game sounds but other than that this is an excellent video and I can't wait to see what you do in the future. I will be watching!

@Video-Games-Are-Fun10 жыл бұрын
while i loved (and still do) the arcades, games like these and ghosts 'n goblins were just too hard. you can call them quarter munchers but i call them inaccessible to the casual gamer. you'd have to play hardcore huddled around the cabinet to actually have a chance to beat the game or advance far.

it really is, i can put 100 of hours playing an open world game this generation, but 50 hour for a game made way back at the time where games can be finished in a few minutes or less than a hour, is out of the place, meaning you have to beat the game over and over everyday, what is worse is that you can't track your progress of how much you clocked.
