I will always remember those nights we were together, Miranda. Praying and sharing Jah's love with one another... it was truly beautiful to me. Those nights I won't forget Lord knows I get sad. But I guess the wiles of this world seduced you and you left my side. I forgive you, for I hold no resentment towards you only prayers so the Lord may guide you and give you peace of mind. Bless...

[26 November 2022] I'm sorry for your loss. You're a good poet and writer - you write like a poet, I think - and your comment reminded me (in a good way) of an old poem by a Franco-English poet of the early Twentieth Century, Hillaire Belloc. The poem is called "Tarantella" and it's about memory and a lost Miranda. It reads in full: *Do you remember an Inn, Miranda* ? *Do you remember an Inn* ? *And the tedding and the spreading of the straw* *For a bedding* *And the fleas that tease in the High Pyrenees* *And the wine that tasted of tar* *And the cheers and the jeers of the young muleteers* *Under the vine of the dark veranda* ? *Do you remember an Inn, Miranda* ? *Do you remember an Inn* ? *And the cheers and the jeers of the young muleteers* *Who hadn't got a penny* *And who weren't paying any* *And the hammer at the doors and the din* *And the Hip! Hop! Hap* *Of the clap* *Of the hands to the twirl and the swirl* *Of the girl gone chancing* *Glancing* *Dancing* *Backing and advancing* *Snapping of the clapper to the spin* *Out and in* *And the Ting! Tong! Tang! of the guitar* ? *Do you remember an Inn, Miranda* ? *Do you remember an Inn* ? *Never more* *Miranda* *Never more* *Only the high peaks hoar* *And Aragon a torrent at the door* *No sound* *In the walls of the Halls where falls* *The tread* *Of the feet of the dead to the ground* *No sound* *But the boom* *Of the far Waterfall like Doom* ... I don't know if reading that would make you feel better or not, but I hope it does make you feel better. One Love.

@@Armorofdawn What Bob wrote was nothing selfish or insulting. It seems to me that Bob just asked an innocent question pertaining to what David thinks counts as life in ways that matter. Is it so bad to be of the mindset of “one love” for all living feeling beings that have faces and families? It seems you’re among the many people who don’t want to question their own virtue signaling that they really are pro-life in all ways. What thoughts do you have about the lyrics? Imho it's a pretty bad message they spread with that song. Did they really mean it? I wouldn't listen to that kind of thoughts for joy... would be the oppisite of joy to me. Even if I really enjoy the music - how they play - how they sing - but not WHAT they sing. I'm really interested in your oppinions.

Yeah I do not agree with the lyrics too... Amazing riddim and production by an awesome group called Black Uhuru, but this is an anti-abortion song, written back in that days, in other times and in a different social-cultural reality... So that's up to us interpretate and understand those kind of things too... For example, many jamaican artists (especially dancehall artists) have lots of homofobic lyrics, a common behavior and identity spread in their reality. Even though some artists changed their position and made public regrets, I think that we must discuss these themes in order to not keep stuck in the past! Big up and listen to reggae music!! 🇯🇲🇯🇲🔊🔊

Gregório Peretta Black Uhuru lyric is based on reality. Real is always real false is always false it’s doesn’t matter in this generation old generation abortion is bad.
@MrPhilippWaxenegger4 жыл бұрын
I'd say 'their' lyrics are based on 'their' perception of reality which was formed by 'their' influence during that time. If you say 'abortion is bad', did you think about pregnancies after sexual abuse? Isn't it wrong to tell women they have give birth to child from a men they didn't want to have sex with?

Abortion might be the lesser evil as measured by the percentage of children which are born without any future.
@dirkpehrke99092 жыл бұрын
Agree with you, but isn’t it more about telling couples to be cautious than about blaming women and couples. I am really asking! Do the lyrics condemn women, who aborted children - or do they just tell people to be cautious? The later would be ok with me, I mean, who would disagree that it is better to prevent pregnancy than to abort children?

Angelika: I agree with you about abortion. School sex education and contraception should be promoted, as there will be fewer unwanted pregnancies in the first place. Some children born with no future end up wishing they were dead. I do think some of the lyrics at least criticize women, including "So leave your pills and thrills And your world of sodomy Show unto yourself woman no sympathy I say throw away the boots And I want my little youth Throw away the pills And I need my little girl Woman! Don't you got feelings?" What sodomy? Of course women should sympathize with and respect themselves. It should not be all about the man's perceived needs. I bought most of Black Uhuru's music and was going to buy one or two more yesterday, but noticed this song, looked it up and now I am less enthusiastic.
@michaelgutierrez67432 жыл бұрын
@@bobdavis4848 If women having abortions were truly concerned with "respecting themselves", they would be more apprehensive about having relations with just whomever, and unprotected at that. Sure there are incidents of **pe but the vast majority of women undergoing abortions have consensual relations.
