Enjoyed the video. Your ideas resonate with me, also took a few quotes about black-and-white - they are brilliant!

Do you not think that whilst images tell us much about the environments they were shot in, that they also scream out the format they desire to be? I think a lot of images scream either monochrome, or colour. The difficult ones are the ones that are both. The ones that require months of consideration. I've been a sucker for postcard landscapes in the past but they're good to practice with. A lot of my past work has been quite embarrassing if I'm honest but I remember they always used to arouse ego whereas this contemporary documentary destroys it. This is the best channel I've come across yet. Keep it up.

Enjoying your channel, it is refreshing to see and hear art discussed in a way that relates to personal growth without remorse. No apology necessary, after all, the language is "English". Best wishes.

The only way to make an effective B&W image is to visualise the image as such right from the start.

Black & White in colour age is like going to the workplace on the horse just because you love history. Photography is an extension of painting. Paintings throughout history are done in colours. Earlier photographers took B&W because they had no option. The main reason why many take B&W today is a poorly exposed photo (such as the overexposed sky) feels classy in B&W.

Excellent video and channel in general, I do enjoy viewing... however your obviously left wing slant is spoiling the whole sentiment for me... politics shouldn't come into any art form

Oh Alan, I could not disagree with you more! Politics has always been deeply involved in many art forms. When dictators come to power almost the very first thing they do is kill, banish or incarcerate the painters, writers and musicians in concentration camps and gulags. The personal is political. Art can not be removed from lived experience. Many poets have been murdered by people who didn't approve of what they wrote. I will keep politics out of art when politicians keep out of art. What should be avoided is dogma or sloganising. Specific political issues are difficult to make good art about because they tend to date badly, Picasso's 'Guernica' an exception that proves the rule. You think Goya painted people being garroted because he was in favour of Napoleon? There is a reason why most artists are left-wing, just as there is a reason why most financiers are right-wing, perhaps you object because you don't care to investigate what those reasons might be.
