Good video, I fitted a Black Widow high level stainless can to my 98 VFR recently. I thought it would be easier to take the back wheel off for maintenance but couldn't get the wheel past the silencer, I found if you can get a 100mm gap under the back wheel it can drop down and rotated to remove without taking off the bodywork and silencer.

Something I overlooked when I first fitted the high level, it has made changing the back wheel so much more simple! Worth fitting for this reason alone :D

RH Automotive, I like the look of that exhaust being up as high as it is. Has the plastic fairing suffered at all because of it's new location? Also, I am assuming you won't ever have a companion to ride with you. No right side rear foot peg? I would want to keep mine on. Is there a way for the rear peg to stay on with this exhaust mount? I just installed my Givi top case mount and side case mounts last night. I haven't ridden with my rounded and older E-21 Givi cases (gloss black) yet, but I will soon. Looks good, RHA.
@RHauto2 жыл бұрын
No damage to the fairing as the carbon does not heat up alot, you could grab it and not get burnt so it's all good. The exhaust on the other hand is a small bit scuffed where the pannier rack is touching it. I put back on the pegs as the Givi pannier rack mounts to these, even though I took the rack off now again, both pegs are still on the bike. I like the clean look with them removed but I'll only end up needing them if I take them off. Thanks for the comment 🙂

Great to have you on board Dave, plenty of antics to come with the vfr! I'm still more than happy with my black widow exhaust, it really cleaned up the look of the bike :) Great quality too!

Hi thanks for the video, just bought a 1998 one of these in the same colour and looking of changing the end can for a Black Widow, may I ask I've ordered a seat cowl and how does the rack fit with that as can't quite make it out in the video.
@RHauto3 жыл бұрын
I had to trim the cowl to fit. Taped it up with masking tape and used a pen to carefully mark out where the rack will sit. The two side tabs must be cut also if I remember correctly. Best of luck with the bike mate, you won't be disappointed! :D

I had to put them back on yes. The givi pannier racks mount to them.

Hi, its a Givi rack, part number pl257fz, if your still looking! Just seen this now.

Great video, I'm thinking of getting one. How's it been since you installed it, is the clearance enough to prevent melting? Also, how did you get the sticker off? Looks very clean without it.
@RHauto4 жыл бұрын
Cheers, It's been great, really happy with it! The carbon doesn't get too hot so no melting issues. I just used a heat gun to peel off the sticker, it came off cleanly. Definitely looks much tidier!
@yappaty19754 жыл бұрын
@@RHauto I couldn't wait so I got one already, the sticker was in the box so I didn't put it on. Sounds lovely, but hopefully quiet enough for a track day. Haven't got it perfectly lined up yet, but it does look really good. Thanks for doing the review, not sure I would've got one if I hadn't seen it.

Yes, the passenger footpeg does not hinder the exhaust in any way. I recently put them back on as I needed them to fit my luggage rack 👍

@@RHauto Have you fitted panniers? Is there enough clearance so as not to foul the exhaust? I am about to buy a BW can for mine. Would like the high level exhaust like yours but don't want not to be able to carry luggage on the side. So I am now thinking std position for the BW can. Great video. I think you covered all bases. Did you use the assembly paste?
@RHauto3 жыл бұрын
@@alexmorgan3435 Hope my other reply covered this but 100% go for the high level, you can always make the rack fit with spacers and longer bolts. And no, I did not use the assembly paste.. Quick job, no time for that haha

@@RHauto Thanks for sharing what you have done. It's a big help trying to work out what is best for me and my set up. I really like the look of the BW exhausts and sound of course. The other thing is I don't want my fairing or rear lights being damaged by heat from the exhaust being so close with the high level one which is also making me think a std position exhaust and definitely carbon as it might not get quite as hot as stainless steel? Thanks again. ATB.
