As a 66-year old Black female, raised in rural Louisiana by sharecropping (cotton) parents and grandparents, I love, love your channel. I was fortunate enough to know six generations of my family. My mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother were domestic workers and farmers. My mother (born in 1937) said that she had picked enough cotton and cleaned enough white people’s homes that I would not have too. After 400-years of servitude in this country, it is time for Black women to get a break. Your channel is providing much needed conversation and service to Black women. I applaud you, Ms Alecia. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾💕💕💕

The world (including our own men) are mad that we have the audacity to find self-worth when they've decided that we don't. They are mad that we don't require their permission to just be and we are not looking for them to cosign on our value. On top of the fact that we've decided to leave them be if they can't appreciate us respectively. We aren't even demanding (yet) that they recognize our value, yet they still refuse to acknowledge how much strength it takes to rise above despite our own brothers deciding we are not worthy of honoring. We have NO SECURITY in this world...or very little. I appreciate you creating a space for us to breathe. A space to re-energize so that we are refueled for the fight we have to endure aka live in this world. I need a nap.

All of my immediate family members had long hair and he wasn't accustomed to this, 'my belief'! I honestly believe he was ashamed to be seen with me- Oh the mindset of our Black men!! This indoctrination needs to LEAVE!! Anyway, I recognized it for what it was and Moved Forward, thankful to God for sparring my life! I actually got to really enjoy and love my hair, it was curly! People would stop and stare at me and finally ask was this my Real Hair!! Frankly, I got more looks with it like this, ha! Now I've decided to let it grow out and see where it takes me. 👍♥️

You've explained yourself, which, you didn't have to do. But don't do it again; those who don't get it will never get it until something changes in their experience which makes their lives a living mirror of an aspect of your experience. Spend your time as you are doing, learning yourself, and sharing that with others. I appreciate your honesty, your truth, and the courage you had to change your life. You have something terribly important to give, or you couldn't have, wouldn't have, made the changes you have, because change is extremely difficult, and to do it means digging down into your soul to see what put you on a road that ended in despair in the first place. Even when you know the historical context in which you developed your perspective, in the end, you have to acknowledge that your pain came from a part of you that you were not even vaguely aware of, and that the impact of all the racism, classism, etc. hid you from yourself. In the end, you wind up not blaming the world even though it plays a strong part in your pain. And what you find is strength, true morality, and you create a standard for yourself, and because you created it, no one can take it from you. You realize that you can do any and everything you need to do for yourself, and that you don't need a savior, and that you have only been waiting on yourself. That's what you've done Alecia, and I'm so glad for you. I'm also grateful because it's nice to know, in my old age, that youngster's are discovering this path at a much younger age than I did. I wish you the best.

It's a shame you even have to make a video discussing why you create content for black women. I watched content all the time geared towards a specific group of people and yet I am not trigger by it. But it seems to bother people if black women do the unthinkable and prioritize ourselves because there's an innate belief we must always prioritize everyone else. As you mentioned, other groups of women do have a certain privilege of not having to deal with the critiques of being a black woman, especially when some of our own men create content solely to demonize us for profit and power on the world's stage.

I finally just had to drop out of working for any type of corporate or institution like business as I couldn't take the unfair treatment and disrespect I was receiving. I went to work for a nonprofit which was better but probably only because I decided to semi retire and work part time which makes working in disparaging environments easier. The fact that you've taken the time to explain this, speaks volumes to how inclusive and considerate black women are and have been. I think it's about time we create spaces for us and be unapologetically exclusive. There are things we need to work out within our selves and with each other, without the noise of others. I enjoy your channel. You so eloquently put into words what I’ve been feeling and telling my friends for a long time. It dawned on me that we are the only culture of women hollering about being strong and independent. I saw some of my friends become worn down and stressed out due to this narrative. I realized it’s okay to be weak and admit to needing help. It’s ok to be a damsel in distress. And speaking of black women and childbirth, I had an older lady tell me her experience of when she went to give birth. She said she wanted an epidural but they took so long to get to her, the baby was crowning and it was too late for it to be administered. She said she later learned from a white nurse that because black women were viewed as being so strong, they didn’t feel the need to make it a priority to give black women an epidural because they could handle the pain.

On my channel I know I would go further if I was not talking about injustice and the other ism’s in this country. I think full heartedly that even the algorithm on KZbin is following through with the ism’s because far less content about that gets picked up and actually shown to viewers. But the ism’s are what literally tore my family apart, only because we are black. I think about it all the time, but if I leave all the ism’s out then my story, my struggle and the very purpose I started my channel to turn my pain into purpose and to let the next person in my shoes know what I been through, and because I got through it and it didn’t destroy me, and I still continue to fight, the next little black girl coming up will know they can get through it to... ... it’s like they want you to take the heart and the entire purpose out of your content. They want the usefulness that your channel brings but they don’t want the pain you had to go through that influenced it to go with it...

The mainstreaming, (highjacking) of AAVE really still blows my mind a little in 2022, if I’m honest. It’s as though bw are indeed guilted into sharing every aspect of our identity. Thank you for giving voice to a feeling I couldn’t quite find the language to articulate.

Yes! All of this! It is infuriating.

Why should you/we have to apologize for who we are and why we want to encourage and enjoy each other's presence. Others sure don't, they want to see us bitching and fighting each other. But what's so ironic is that other nations have been with their people disregarding us for all times, now it's questioned. Why? we just to want to be left the ???? alone. Other people have been separated from us from the very beginning, (STAY THERE) they only come to us to steal, kill or destroy us; with their false pretense of wanting to help or that they care about us. You best to believe anyone asking why you create for black women is not being sincere. Ask the companies that produce for other people (OTHER THAN US) why do they produce for their people; that is a very insincere question. We are such a special people that others are always trying to keep you/us off our purpose with distractions; don't be fooled by their supposing wanting to know, we have been trying to teach, and communicate with others for centuries, and they still pretend not to understand. Sister don't let them distract you and waste your time. Don't let them get in your head with their stupid mind games.

Sister, YOU are a breath of fresh air! Much love and light to you! 💕 So much pressure on us as black women. So, I love that this is a safe place to be seen, heard and valued. Just because.

New Subscriber! Can’t wait to read my Love letters lol 🙂 I’ve noticed with a lot of Creators that are Intelligent and offer a different outlook on the black experience get attacked by other races about inclusion. Interesting.

Your message is GREATLY appreciated. My life is drama free in so many areas, with limited access by choice. It was a journey to get here, and at 61, I'm loving the peace. Black Women know your worth. Keep inspiring and being great beautiful lady! 🙏💕

Thank you ! I support you wholeheartedly for every point , tho I don’t think trolls deserve a explanation but it is needed. Thank you👏🏾💕💫💫

I am absolutely loving your content! The song you created about feeling left behind has truly calmed my soul and changed my life! I listen to it EVERY morning and my 9 yr old daughter even loves and sings it, which makes my heart smile! So, so, happy I am able to find and see someone else who gets it. Stay blessed!

How strange that it attracted more non-bw than actual bw. Where was your traffic coming from? Maybe this attracted the other ladies in your readership.

EXCELLENT. No one DESERVES an explanation from you, but this is an excellent one that is affirming to those of us who also are NOT GOING to let others tell us who we can talk to about WHATEVER we want to talk about as Black women. Some people need to check and see whether they know it is June of 2022, not 1822...

Can I just say, as if we don’t know already…THIS IS KZbin…YOU…TUBE! I’m supposed to create what it is that I WANT to create. There are plenty of channels that are not for me…so I go to the channel(s) that are for me. Yet, I have come upon channels that weren’t exactly for me, still I get something out of it! While KZbinrs often create to be of service to others needs… like you said Tamara, YOU get to serve the demographic that YOU choose to serve. It’s no different from knowing the importance of choose a niche when you choose to go into any other business. So it’s not any different here. And again… this is KZbin!

Thank you. I think that other groups are bored with the status quo and won't activate to disrupt it. They lazily enjoy the creativity, divinity and vitality that Black women exude. They desire for us to provide these things for them without having to cultivate these things within themselves which requires years and generational joy, pain and triumphs that we have endured both in the past and presently. We are fully human and divine and many struggle with simply being human. I just found your content and look forward to supporting and enjoying 🥰
