Why the hell does this have so many dislikes? It's a beautiful document of a glorious time. No helmets! Polite players, and true sportsmanship. No hideous Barmy Army (I am English and can't stand them). Both teams had sone amazing players, and if the bowling looks sedate, it really wasn't. Griffith and Hall were easily 90mph bowlers.

It would be marvellous to see ball by ball coverage of these test matches. People would get a shock with the over rate though! In those days bowlers just bowled, got back to their mark and bowled the next delivery. There was no 'dawdling' between overs, no 3 hour conferences to set field placings and the batsmen wouldn't stop the bowler in his run up because he saw a twig fall some 200 yards away!!

Great names of cricket came in the way, like Lance Gibbs, Ken Barrington, Frank Worrell, and more. The commentary was very articulate. The commentators over radio were different. There were sport journaslists from all over the world present at the occassion. True, political developments were getting top stories. Fiedel Castro of Cuba, John F. Kennedy from USA, and Russian politician, Mr Chruchef were in the lime light. Ted Decestor, Tom Greveney, G Sobers, Kehnai, Hall were also in action at least on the field.

Excellent. I remember the series, we were glued to the screen (or the radio. Dexter was a fine sight, though he tended to get out before making a ton, as here. The pace and aggression of Hall and Griffith marked the summer, and Cowdrey’s broken arm was a reminder that cricket is dangerous. The great hero for England was Close, absolutely fearless and indomitable.

Dexter 50 in 45 minutes - England's 200 in 203 minutes and 69 overs. These days you'd be lucky to get 40 overs completed in that time.

The amazing thing about The Mid 1960's in London at, say, The Oval was that England v West Indies was an AWAY game and yet over the last 50 years mass immigration has occurred and yet these days, whereas the crowd was, literally, 80%+ West Indian/Black British when those Guys were just under 2% of Londoners and now when their numbers have increased eight-fold they are only a small percentage of the crowd !

At 6:25 - Lance Gibbs bowling off-spin. VERY RARE. There are no other videos of him bowling on You Tube. Interesting because at one point, he was the highest West Indian test wicket taker. Great, historical video. Then at 7:55, the great Frank Worrell bowling. First time I have ever seen that.

As a schoolboy I used to cut pictures of these cricket heroes and paste them in old railway timetable books and feel great pleasure in showing to my friends my treasure. Great names like Wes Hall; Charlie Griffith; Ted Dexter; Ken Barrington, Colin Cowdrey. I always longed to see them in action. After so many years it is heavenly to see them in these rare footages . Doubt it, Hall, Griffith and Trueman would have been quick, but definitely not as rapid as fast bowlers in other periods. Apart from Trueman and Tyson (who didn't play enough), it was a pretty poor period for true, fast bowling
