_It's all about makin' money & gettin' the bit**es bro!_ That's ALL it is, ALL it's ever about (or at least for the stuff that become pop culture canon - feel kinda bad for how easily manipulated young people are), overvaluation of material-based identity (thanks, capitalism!)

RIP Gift Of Gab! One of my all time favourite rappers. My dad showed me Blackalicious when I was little and I was hooked ever since. Blazing Arrow is one of the best rap albums ever. Thank you for rapping about humility and some of the more important stuff in life. I won't ever stop listening to you and I know for sure my dad won't.

I'm just 19 and always on search for some true hip hop, ya know, like hip hop you listen to and you feel the message, the funk, you just feelin' it. Nowerdays hiphop just crappy shit. You ain't feel nothing than eventually swinging ya ass for 2 minutes and asking yourself, for real, what was this song about. This one is timeless epic stuff, could listen to it again and again, never gets old, never looses the groove.

brilliant song. blackalicious is a fucken legend, he represents the essence of an artistic, creative and inspired approach to hip hop. also, if compared to J5, i like the way he doesn't have to sound too old school to achieve this either. you can see he'd appreciate the musical conventions of gangsta rap and the use it has. genius

This is hip hop folks. The world needs more of this shit. Every up & comer in the hip hop world should HAVE to listen to this song 1 last time before signing a contract Filter out the hip hop artists from those who want to cater to the black hole that is mainstream hip pop. One of my favorites, but never realized there was a video for it. Well done. This is what it's all about folks. If you like this. Check out 'Just Because'. 2 songs that both explain word for word what hip hop is all about.

Love these guys. Bought a book a few weeks back called HOW TO RAP by Paul Edwards. Gift of Gab is featured in the book and he comes up with some great advice on rapping. In the part on rhythm he says "I'm basically trying to be like another instrument on the track. I want to ride it just like the bass line is riding it, only with words. I wanna ride it just like the guitar or the violin or whatever instrument, just riding it".
