I was at the Broken Frame tour in 82 as a 21 year old...small venue...Alan Wilder 'filling in'...should have changed my life...all I remember is Dave's circular dancing...don't beat yourself up...it is always better to fantasise than experience...love your sentiments though!!!

Spirit is a great album overall. The production of that album is methodically well done. A Broken Frame generates that touch of nostalgia to the fan who does not let him see reality (in addition to having the best cover of all the albums). In my opinion A Broken Frame has a very good half and a very bad half. And let's face it, it's very badly produced. That's why Depeche Mode classifies it as the worst album in their history.

I love a Broken Frame have since it came out. I stood by it all these years. I agree the worst is spirit but closely followed by sounds of the universe and delta machine. And I have a very unpopular opinion that Memento is average at best. Ghosts is absolutely fantastic but the rest meh. I tried relistening and I'm just not feeling it. If you haven't listened check out For the Masses cover album with it's really good
