Not sure if that's true though... seems that the last thing you'd want to do as a pirate captain (actually, he was a commodore -- the Queen Anne wasn't his only ship) is reduce your crew.

Actually, there were times where Blackbeard would tie off parts of his beard and set the tips on fire to create smoke. It would look like he was the one creating the smoke, which scared the piss out of everyone else.

It always pays to pay attention to what's going on in the background of an ERB. Right as Blackbeard spat the line about "stealing all your rum and selling it back at a profit", his crew were returning from doing just that. That's why Capone hired the Assassin's Creed guy, as revenge.

4:25 Edward Teach (Blackbeard's real name) did have a thing for intimidation, and he absolutely would light slow-burning fuses woven in his beard and under his hat. What people don't realize is that this dude was roughly 6'5'' and about 225 pounds, which was a monster for 1715. Blackbeard's height and weight, plus those fuses, made him a sight to see. EDIT: 7:16 Bonus Fun Fact: Blackbeard's eventual killer (one Robert Maynard) did in fact chop off Blackbeard's head after a ferocious battle at where Ocracoke, NC currently stands in 1718. Maynard's report also showed that during said battle, Blackbeard had been shot FIVE TIMES and cut another TWENTY times during the encounter.

That's my least favorite line, actually. "Al dente" means "firm to the tooth", but, last I checked, properly cooked pasta isn't exactly hard. It's almost like he said "rap so hard they call me a limp noodle".

the truth of the st. valentine's day massacre: capone was in gang war with another gangster by the name of george "bugs" moran. capone heard he was gonna show up at warehouse and set up a hit by having a few of his guys dress as cops. they were supposed to wait for moran to show up but he never did. instead, one of the hit-men mistook one of his men for moran so they moved in. the gangsters in the warehouse thought this was another shakedown by the chicago PD, since that was quite common back then, and complied with the "cops'" orders. so they lined them up and gunned them all down. while they were was no hard evidence that capone did, it was generally agreed that capone ordered it.

MDG - There's more to it than just the fuses in his hat (and beard) creating smoke for intimidation. Blackbeard actually challenged people (including his crew) to a game of who dares to smoke the longest while both participants sit on a barrel of gunpowder! Blackbeard always won those games.

I agree. Assassin's Creed: Black-Flag was pretty dope. I quite enjoyed playing it as a 15 year old, playing it every day when I came home from school. I did enjoy Assassin's Creed: Rogue quite a bit as well.

Everything I know about Blackbeard I learned from the History Channel. (around 10 years ago) That's where I learned about the lit fuse smoke special effect he did to intimidate his enemies in battle. Also, he was a tall skinny brainy prisoner initially. (his centuries version of a nerd) Until the previous captain died, and the crew approached him with a job offer of Captain. That's how he became Blackbeard. He was also adamant that his crew accept surrender & treated well behaved prisoners well. Either dropping them off at port or getting close to port & putting them in a lifeboat with enough directions, food & fresh water to row back to civilization. This was tactically VERY smart. 1) If he had accrued a very high body count, nations with interest in the region would have very aggressively hunted him down (sooner). 2) People are more inclined to surrender instead of fight, if they know you are going to treat them well.

Nooooooooooooooooo!!!! Black flag was so focused on Navel combat (Which honestly should have been a different game entirely) That parts of the actual Assassins Creed structure (Like actual fair Guard movement and placement on several of the fortresses) Really suffered. Assassins creed 1 will always be the best, You could actually fight offensively OR defensively and even mix the 2 in even measure... From then on, So much focus on "Counter Kills" to the point, half the time that's all you could do if you wanted to win... UGH!
