One of the things I truly enjoy about blacksmithing is having that ability to take a steel or iron "something" and transform it into a useful "something else".

Last weekend did a forging project with my grandson the first one we've done together. I want to thank you for showing me simple easy projects that my 15-year-old grandson could do with me. He's looking forward to the next time you visits to do more blacksmithing, hearing him talk to his parents and his brothers I can definitely say he's got the blacksmith bug. LOL

This was marvelous fun!!! I saw the flower stamp you made for Christmas gifts. That would look good on the candle holder. Do you have anything in your scrap bucket that of yours to build a hand driven spoon auger or auger drill that could be used to make musical instruments. I saw one used to bore out a Fujara but now see how it could be used for any of the flutes I like to build. Or it could be used for making didgeridoo, small drums, and whistles. Do you have any advice on how to build a flute maker's spoon auger or long drill for boring flutes and things?

If you take a project to the grinder to finish/clean-up the edges but want to the piece to have the complete forged look, not having a smooth, shiny surface, will heating it and brushing it a couple of times remove the ground surface finish or would you have to take a hammer to it to give the authentic forged look?
@BlackBearForge2 жыл бұрын
Scaling it up in the forge helps some, but it never completely hides the grinding look
