@BlackBeltBarrister my partner received a speeding ticket from a mobile speed camera very recently. She was pulled over and notified by the police officer that she was/did break the speed limit and would receive confirmation in the post in due course. However, my potential point/s of contention are; *She received 0 paperwork from the officer at said time of the speeding allegation?! *On receipt of the speeding ticket, her actual speed was not stated anywhere in the document stating her notification of speeding and confirmation of points on her license?! Am I right to question the above point/s (England based) or is this SWP of which I am unaware of? Love the vids ❤

My brother and sister have given "DNA" to Ancestry to see their history. They want me to do the same. However, they also wanted and tried to coerce me into the C19 jabberoo, I refused that too and took a huge amount of abuse especially from my brother for refusing to "follow the science". So, NO, I will not be sending my DNA.

It's extortion and the added benefit for them, they know your data is more valuable to sell because it's authentic. Crooks sell your data onwards in ever decreasing value when you don't reply. Sneaky behaviour includes setting appointments in your calendar. I don't bother to even delete it when it happens. No response is a dead end. A response is encouragement. For a long time I didn't even flag an sms or call as spam. That would have been a glimmer of potential activity. Report them to a government website instead if they are very concerning. Edit. Relatives can be indifferent to your privacy, some are more concerned about self promotion. Especially if someone dies, then their death becomes all about them advancing their self interest. You may find yourself listed on a family website with a lot of personal info and few commercially interesting saleable information about themselves. Death is profitable and limiting the inheritors motivational. It's best to have a bank that is well protected and has a fraud squad.

The thing is with all of this DNA data, is that it is collected for purposes that people would not like, and also what it is actually being used for. People closely associated with the vaccine industry, and other industries, are very closely aligned with these DNA collection companies and right from the outset this is being used commercially in totally undisclosed ways.

In the USA a baby can't be removed from the hospital after birth until their DNA is taken. It was supposed to have been for medical use but now it's shared with the government and any member of their family can be connected for a crime. They take the child's DNA and work back through untested adult relatives to match crime scene DNA. No more privacy to break the law.

The difference is in the details. Police DNA profiling is restricted in how much they collect. Commercial DNA services actually collect much much more detail. Trouble is, nearly everything you do these days requires you to do it online, each different company or organisation requiring their own log on details. If, as is suggested, you need to create a different password for each (some even require you to change your pw every few weeks/months) it becomes almost impossible to remember or manage this. Even password managers need keeping up to date, maintained and backed up. Until logging on is made more efficient without compromising security or ease of access, then people will continue to use a shalllow pool of passwords for everything they do. Maybe AI will intervene 🙂.

One worrying holder of data is the Govt, its various departments hold considerable data on everyone of us. It holding such data would not be so bad except that over recent times there has been numerous incidents of hacking into various public bodies and I can't think that central Govt is better protected. One issue is that software and hardware is too expensive for the public bodies to procure as regularly as they should. I know of one health trust that still has a considerable number of out of date computers, all still linked to the network and running Windows '98 (never mind how good it is) that hasn't had security updates for many years. Given that public bodies all tend to batten down the hatches when there is a hint of a problem and not inform their users early enough (PO Scandal et al) we are all vulnerable.
@DelticEngine
@DelticEngine 3 ай бұрын
That's not an issue if there's no internet connection. Any IT professional can easily prevent internet access to an intranet and very tightly control exactly what, if any, data gets outside the intranet. Also, in a corporate environment such old machines are likely just used as a cost-effective terminal communicating securely with a server and that's it. In the early days of Windows you could remove system components and lock-down the OS far more than you can these days, which effectively makes the system immutable and a lot more secure than modern systems that require a constant external connection which means a constant vulnerability. It's the Windows update mechanism (and now also continual 'licensing' checks) that have let so many viruses become prevalent in the first place.

Unfortunately people seem to miss the actual point of the internet. The point is information. As someone who grew up without access to easy information, the internet is still amazing. We only had a dictionary and newspapers/magazines. The tv came, then the internet after a few decades of tv. So… try living without access to easy info. We had to call a time announcing phone number to keep everyone on the same freaking time ! There were no actual ways for the time to be checked, it was majority wins, or you set your watch by job or school time.

I always work under the assumption that any data about me held by any company that is supposedly private or anonymous will become de-anonymized or public at some point in the future, so I'm generally cautious about anything I put online or share with companies, but particularly cautious about anything I write online that might be private or anonymous now. This applies to things like direct messages on social media platforms, comments about my employer on Glassdoor (I've never made any even though they are anonymous, and there was an incident recently where they added names to historical comments), and lots of other things. Tech companies do not have a great track record when it comes to protecting private data, and it only takes a single data breach or for a company to be sold to someone with more nefarious motives for anything you thought was previously anonymous or private to suddenly become de-anonymized and public.

Hearing that somebody is pushing for a DNA database of every living human makes me wonder why they want that data. Then these "find your history" things started up - then I hear a rumour that all test swabs are kept and I am glad now that I have no reason to enter a doctor's surgery. Maybe someone will recreate the human race at a time in the future - only select models of course - that's me out.

Even if a distant cousin gave a DNA sample to one of these "ancestry" profiling companies you are in it by extention. If a sample of your DNA is found at the scene of a crime and you are not already in a DNA commercial data bank they can link you to a family member who is and find you. It's being done to solve cold cases all the time. Moral of the story; don't do crime or don't leave any of your DNA behind.

We've all been encouraged to carry round surveillance and tracking devices on our person. The authorities didn't even have to force us: We have willingly taken it upon ourselves to have mobile phones on us at all times which track our every movement and purchase. Now we're doing it with our DNA. In the small print, these DNA firms reserve the right to use your DNA data for whatever purpose they want. And of curse, this will be sold to interested parties like insurance companies, etc. Now imagine in a few years time when this DNA is profiled and screened for diseases such as cancer or dementia, etc. Imagine what insurance companies will do with this data. High dementia profile? Your car insurance will be through the roof, if they even choose to insure you at all, since you may end up on a blacklist, simply because you have a higher possibility of a disease. Health insurance? Property rental? jobs? We have all given our data away, and some of us are choosing to give away their DNA just because of curiosity about their heritage. I have no wish to know what percentage of Viking or Celt is in my DNA.
