At Panera we used to just toast the outside. This is a great Idea. Also love that blackberry jam, use it to baste my jalapeno poppers when grilling.

Ken my Christian brethren, this is a great sammich & inexpensive here in Kentucky as we have wild blackberries growing everywhere & make our own preserves, pies etc... plus we butcher hogs so the the bacon is cheap also as all the hog cuts are hung in a smokehouse. We have no panini press , but use a ridged interior iron skillet with a heavy iron skillet on top of the bread , but can only toast 1 piece at a time in the skillets on a gas stove , but it works. The blackberry preserves reminds me of being a child, out in the country, in the summertime, and scouring the ditches along the farms, collecting blackberries. So good. I gotta try this one. I love grilled cheese with berry preserves and bacon. Raspberry or blackberry preserves with mozzarella, a few leaves of finely chopped rosemary and crispy bacon on sourdough is a favorite.

Ken, I often hear on the news about how the prices of food is dropping but I haven't felt like it has. Would you consider doing a follow up of your Walmart shopping for grocery staples?
