Old man Thomas did not drive to Las Vegas to cut her off. He drove to Las Vegas hoping to get laid. He thought the threat of cutting her off would scare her and force her hand do he could get a little happy time in exchange for continuing to pay her bills. You don't need to drive anywhere and see anybody to cut them off financially you just simply stop paying their bills. He got a beating instead of booty.
