My dad was 11 and used to play football with Marc Defeo. When the family was murdered my dad said at football practice all the kids were asking where Marc was. The coach said that the family moved. Later that night my dad saw what happened on the news. He said Marc was a great kid and pretty good at football. I live 30 minutes from amityville & I’ve been wishing for you to come!! I would’ve loved to meet you!

The children would be in their 60s today. 50yrs. 1974-2024. Could have had children of their own. Would have been a big family and wonderful times at Christmas if this tragedy have never happened. Picnics on Memorial Weekend. BBq and speedboat. A shotgun blast would make a .22 sound like an air pistol. EVERYONE should have heard it. Louder IN the house than outside. With walls as a sound barrier. Perplexing

The attic windows were changed out. My aunt lived there with her family and were the ones who sold it in 2010 after my uncle died. A news segment was done on the house and showed the "blood red room" under the stairs and how scary it *wasn't* and some other things. It was a very nice house and not haunted at all. My aunt had to put a fence up and also request the house image be blurred on Google Earth Street view.

There was a remake version in 2005 (which I have not seen and probably won't ever). The remakes I stay away from; they are just senseless modern day imitations of the original movies.

There is a really good documentary about this. It’s about 5 hrs. in length. The kids did wake up and Alison told them to get back to bed or she would kill them. Lots of information I never knew until I watched it.

My father worked for the town sanitation and used to pick up the garbage from that house he had to go to the back of the house to get the trash and he told me alot of stories, when the Defeos lived there he said that the son put drugs in the family soup before killing them and that explains why everyone one was in their beds sleeping and he did it for the life insurance. He also spoke of the red room.

I have personally had extremely negative spiritual experiences in my family's former home that we lived in from 1972 thru to 1988. I saw my mother lifted off the floor and you could see depressions of hands/fingers in her neck as she was lifted up. I was physically assaulted by something unseen with the naked eye, it was over me as I was in my bed. Ppl who had no idea there was something happening in that home would report seeing ghostly figures of women from the 1700's and 1800's eras. We as a family had seen these as well but hadn't told anyone about them and the reporting parties did not know each other so they could not have conspired to create stories with exacting details.

I’m sure you are telling the truth. I believe the sort of evil you and your family endured was very real. Having said that, I do not believe anything paranormal was happening at the time of the Defoe murders. I do not believe that anything paranormal happened while the Lutz’s lived there. There is much documentation on the Lutz’s dealings with Ron Defoe, his attorney and the fabrication of the tale they cashed in on.

I've had spiritual experience. The first was in a small 8 unit housing place, they were built as two- 4 unit houses... the side I lived in for 4 years, the gentleman that owned the property had passed away. My building was built where his garden used to be. I was woke from sleep by a fairly bright blue light, the energy was calm and comforting. Once i realized what happened i lit a white candle thank him for his visit and welcomed his to visit again. The second place is where I currently reside approx. 100 yards from St. Peter's cemetery which also has Some of Canadian Military Buried there. On several occasions I have seen spirits traversing from my front door up or down my stairs. I cleansed the house when I first moved in with white sage. After encounter i once again cleansed welcoming those who needed physical place to go from here to wherever they wanted as long as they meant no harm. Going on 17 years here I've seen 50+ times of spirit travels and one boy no more than 5 or 6 peeking at me over my railing grinning.

I watched an in depth documentary about this family not long ago. The Defeo father brutally beat his older son quite often, beginning at the age of 2. The mother was also a victim of his physical abuse and often covered her arms, legs, and eyes (sunglasses) when out in public. And you ask why Butch killed him. Unfortunate event, regardless. The documentary gave me a whole new view of this story. Edit: Lamont, i forgot to thank you! Great video.

I never lived in New York, let alone Amityville. I grew up in New Jersey. I was 10 years old when the first movie came out. By the time I was a young teenager, I had my doubts about George and Kathy’s story. Shame on them for overshadowing what really happened to the Defeos. Those are traditionally and historically accurate windows for a Dutch Colonial house ; they are called “ Quarter Moon Windows “ Dormer Windows. And many DC houses have Gambrel roofs , which are the barn style roof. There’s a few in my neighbourhood. I think because of this story we associate them with evil eye windows.

Because a person had a bad childhood is no excuse and I get tired of criminal's trying to use it as a defense. If this were the case, I should have ended up on top of a McDonald's, picking people off(I got out of the house by 16 and never went back). This guy was in his 20's and still living, or having a relationship, with his 'abusive' father?! What's hard for me to believe, is that the parents allowed him to have access to the home, with young kids, when he was a drunk/druggie and it cost the children their lives. There's a valid reason there are a lot of homeless drunks/druggies, because most families get tired of the violence, stealing, erratic behavior and trying to help them, when they won't help themselves. I think the Lutz's bought the house intentionally, to make money off a made up story.

Hey I remember seeing a photo of what looked like the face of a Defeo boy at the top of the stairs. The camera took a picture every 8 seconds and left in the house over night. It was from some ghost hunter show. So I don't know.Take it for what it's worth.

If you get the chance, watch Danny Lutz's documentary, "My Amityville Horror". He makes it very clear it wasn't the house, it was George. According to Danny, George was seriously into the occult.

I don't believe the entire story Butch tells in the book, but I think it's far more plausible than the official, police version. In the book, he says that a friend of his and him killed the parents and the eldest sister was supposed to take the younger kids to their grandparents' house. He said his friend freaked out, and left the house. Butch then says he showered, went after his friend to help put his father back in bed, and that Dawn (sister) was supposed to take the kids. Butch claims different things - which is why I don't believe everything he says. The first thing he claims is he came back to the house with the friend, they move the dad, and the friend leaves. Then he says when he returned (no mention of the friend) he went up to Dawn's room to find out why she hadn't taken the kids to the grandparents' house. He says she was on the phone and high af. He says that's when he checked on the kids, discovered them all dead, and then killed Dawn. But he also says, when he found his friend, the friend was leaving his house, wearing the clothes he had put in the washer after he showered. Which led Butch to believe the friend and Dawn killed the kids together. 🤔 Based on forensics alone, there is no way a single person committed this crime. I find it very interesting that Butch died in March or May of 2021, but they won't release cause of death.

That's where I live an it would be amazing. If he was to do it I would show him around. I would tell him a story about my 3 cousins that was involved in a traffic accident back in 1992 where one of them died and the other two lived.

Nice work, love this commentary. The neighborhood somewhat reminds of Haddonfield, IL in "Halloween", 1978. Also, many years ago we went to a bridal shower in Amityville and passed the house on Ocean Ave. My sister literally got physically sick as we went past 112 Ocean Ave. There's definitely a lot of evil there because of what happened.

My mum went to visit her uncle in America in the 80's , just after my dad died. He lived round the corner from the De feos. He was friendly with the New owners of the house, and took my mum to visit with them. Mum said it was a lovely house, and the family were really nice.

Lamont...The part I still can't understand about the Defeo murders is this...How are 6 family members murdered in a home with an open central staircase from the main floor up to the 3rd floor, with a high powered rifle, and not one family member even gets out of bed to see what that blasting noise was?...5 of them were on the second floor, in 3 different bedrooms, and Dawn was just a floor above right over Allison's and Mark and John's bedrooms, and after 5 BLASTS from the rifle, even Dawn, on the 3rd floor, never even stirred from her bed...ALL 6 were found face down, in their own beds....it will never make sense to me how not even 1 of them jumped out of bed after the first couple of shots....6 victims, on two separate floors, in 4 different bedrooms...and not one was awakened by the echoing blasts of the rifle....Something just doesn't add up...and toxicology reports showed no sign of drugs in any of their systems from what I understand....makes you think maybe there was some sort of unseen "force" in the house...P.S....You are so incredibly beautiful...those eyes, and that voice...I love the way you consciously articulate your words, it makes for such an enjoyable viewing, Thank You for putting that kind of time, and energy into your vids, and your info was spot on, and delivered so informatively...but, I have to say, I would of loved to see a bit more of your handsome face, you're so cute...

I was 13 years old when the De Feos were murdered but didn't know of them until "The Amityville Horror" was published a few years later. Just before the murders took place I had read a book I was told not to read: "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote, about the murder of four members of the Clutter family in 1959, a book that had life-changing effect on me as it changed how I see the world. I became interested in the De Feo case just in the last few years. There are couple of books about the case: "High Hopes" and the more recent "The Night the De Feos Died". From what I've read and heard, George Lutz's comments are to be taken with a great deal of skepticism. One interviewer talked about Mr. Lutz being like a persuasive salesman. I once Mrs. Lutz talk about the mistake of dabbling in the supernatural and bringing things in that you don't want . The way all but one of the De Feos were face-down dead in their beds is puzzling. How could Butch have done that on his own? Dawn was in a different position and had been shot in the face. There's been some speculation she was in on the killings with Butch who then killed her. Things don't add up in the murder case and I figure we'll never know just what happened.

Sadly, not everyone's mental illnesses are taken care of. I am mentally ill and I'm on medication and in counseling, and I can say that if you're mental and not on meds or in counseling or both, then you should not be allowed to be in society if your mental health poses a risk to others around you. I can honestly say that yes, I've had homicidal thoughts, but only towards people who did me wrong that I never got justice for, but I enjoy my freedom too much to worry about taking someone's life. Besides, that's God's job to pick and choose who lives and who doesn't, not mine. I'd rather keep a journal like I'm doing, continue counseling and stay on my meds. It's not hard. It's actually amazing how medication and counseling can put your psychotic condition under control to the point where you can actually function "normally" in society. Meds will never make us "normal" per se, but I believe it keeps people like this guy from murdering people. God, the last thing I'd ever want is to harm someone. You could probably punch me in the face today and I'd most likely just turn around and walk away, because it's all I got left in me.

Read the book when it first came out, having just seen the author interviewed on a TV talk show, so it was before all the debunking that came along in the insuring years. I was living in a somewhat isolated cabin at the time, and I WAS TERRIFIED!! I turned on evey light in the place, and I made more than several long- distance phone calls to my mother!

Hey Lamont, love your videos. When I was about 7-11 years old we had a cemetery in the back of our land and I would go out there for hours by myself and wonder about the lives of the people that once were. Live is so short here on earth but their is a life after death and the promises that the lord and savior Jesus christ gives in the Bible is the answer. 1 cor 15 : 1-4 tells us if we believe with all our heart that he died and shead his blood for all and that he was buried and that he rose again on the 3rd day, we will live in eternity with him forever. We all have that adamic nature in us but simply believing is the gospel, im praying for you Lamont because I know deep down inside you are a very decent person searching for the truth. God bless you and inlighten you to the truth that Jesus laid down his life for all who would simply believe

Back in those days caskets could be buried stacked on each other (in vaults) from the looks of the headstone this is a triple plot and Mom and the 2 daughters were placed on the left (first stack of 3), Dad and the 2 sons in the middle plot (second stack of three) and empty space left on the right for the 2 grandparents who died later on. In the picture of the caskets at the cemetery you can see white boxes to the left, those would be the burial vaults each casket went into before being interred. My parents just pre-bought their plot and while today you can purchase a double or triple plot our cemetery only allows 2 stacked burials max per plot

I lived in amity harbor when this happened. I was a teenager. I remember everyone being so scared . I've been past the house several times. For quite a while you could not enter the street. I do not believe the whole Lutz story though we did believe that some paranormal activity probably occurred. But way stretched out in their story..
