Great video. I dont know what 200 dollars is in english money. But they look like a very well made & strong pair. With it being canvas it has many options. Take the straps off & it could be used as a pillow with grass in or jut to put your feet in if it got a bit cold at night for some extra warmth, a lot of things that cannot be done with other rucksacks or hiking packs. Looks like a great bit of kit for any outdoor adventure. 👍.

👍 Very good review of this system. I have 2 of the haversacks and one of the 1st run of the rucksack. I agree completely with your assessment. As Blackie said when he introduced this product it is not for everyone as it is sized to carry just what one needs for a night (or, two), but that makes it light and compact. I have been using the same idea as Blackie on closing the rucksack, but am extremely interested in your idea and will give it a try. Thank you for sharing this idea. I live in the Southwest where water is not always plentiful and should be carried with you. I have attached a USGI style Nalgene canteen to both sides for this reason. The Blackbird 2 haversack is the best waxed canvass envelope style I have ever seen or used. After 6-7 months of using the Nighthawk rucksack I’m liking it more and more.

So many ideas...thank you so much 🧐🤔🧐🥰 Is it waterproof? My main question is, how would it be shipped? I have 2 adresses and need to find out with what it will be shipped so I don't have to pay $17.00 extra for package interception via the USPS service. If it is shipped via UPS or FedEx, again I have to know BEFORE ordering so I can use appropriate address, plus I can't get to my USPS address sometimes for several weeks at a time. I prefer it being shipped via FedEx or UPS (the brown trucks).

One thing you forgot to mention about the price, for $200 you get a pack that will like last you the rest of your life. No $30, $50, $80, or even many of the 100-200 dollar range packs will last more than a few years. This system uses waxed canvas. You would almost have to purposely try to cut it. and after a few years of use, you can easily touch it up with more wax and a hair dryer. Personally I wouldn't waste inside space with a wool blanket. I would get another piece of short matching canvas tarp. Maybe an old used one. And cut it into about a three by three Square. Roll your blanket up and use that square as an outside rap or you could sew the edges together and one end and make it into a little bag. And tie it onto the bottom of the pack. Not only would it match but it would free up a lot of room in your pack. And you can get oil canvas tarps all over the place or if you can't find one even a thick piece of plastic and wrap it up to protect it. You're going to need that inside area for your food. I'm surprised Blackie isn't selling a premade little bag for that with a drawstring. Anyway 200 bucks isn't that much when you consider how many replacement packs people buy over the years when their fancy expensive packs that are made of nylon or something rip, or the zippers break. I don't know how many of those lightweight popular backpacks I have got that the zippers jammed up on by the fourth or fifth time I used it. Especially if it gets wet. Shortest bring WD-40 all over and I don't know how you would keep a lot of those zippers from Rusty. And the plastic ones are so weak they break either from overpacking or catching on something. If your life was depending on one bag or one system. I'm guessing you're wearing one of the best ones out there. If get to go back to work I will I will definitely buy that set. In the meantime I'm probably just going to use some old blue jeans and sew up a similar set, by hand. Paint the outside with some army green olive paint. Turn it inside out and treat the crap out of it with wax and a hair dryer. I've been wanting to try out rubberizing spray paint. I'm not sure about the color options. But it would have to look better than blue jeans. I have made bags out of blue jeans before. Old blue jeans are the best. Seems like blue jeans are Getting Thinner and thinner today.

One of the ads that played before your video was for diapers. Nothing makes for a fast pungent campfire like a fully loaded diaper !! Too many people dump a loaded diaper in a grocery store parking lot and drive off. I collect them. As they dry out they become an excellent source of campfire kindling...although people nearby may think you are cooking days old roadkill. Two Tooth Bill from homeless camp 45 near Waco, roams the Costco parking lot out by State Road 57 and collects about 12 diapers daily. He never lacks for fire starting material as he has LOADS of it!

I had a whole lot to say but I think I'm just going to highlight some points and not write a book. I already have a canvas bag like that but it's not as tall nor does it have the attachment points all over it like that one does. That pack is a beautifully constructed pack plus I have 3 haversacks. If mine had the attachment points that that one does it would be great to set it up almost like that. On your haversack the top pouch which mine does not have would-be for maps and also navigation equipment inside. I saw that toggle that you had, demonstrated by Dave Canterbury and I've already made myself one although I haven't put it to use yet I think that was an ingenious idea, whoever had the idea. I used to watch Blackie Thomas year or two ago but somehow I got unsubscribed to him like I have several people, maybe one day I'll find his sight and re-subscribe. Beautiful pack and haversack excellently packed and I might add my sleep system is a hammock that's all I can sleep in the ground getting too hard. I love those buckles that you put on there it's kind of ironic that you brought that up because I had already thought about it when you first started talking about the shoulder straps and I actually prefer a belly strap also in case of bending and moving around through brush which I used to do a lot when I did my cross countries but I don't know how I could handle that now but if I had to I surely would. I really really wish I could help support some of these US based Craftsman but things are tight these days you know. I noticed you use one single walking stick, I cannot get used to two poles. I've had my walking stick for 15 years plus or minus anyway thanks for the video I think I did make it a book after all. Stay safe out there and may God bless

Thanks but no thanks I’ll stick to my Mathilda backpack I prefer to have compartments to organize my gear that pack is more like a waxed duffel bag plus you gotta buy the straps on top of it.for over $200 Just not for me. I do love your videos as well as Blackie Thomas but to each their own.

@@charlesquick3091 Firstly, I didn't accuse anyone of anything. I gave my opinion that the price was too high for an imported bag. I stand by that. As far as the "proof", watch Mount Kephart Outdoors and a video he did about five months ago. It goes into detail about where the bags are made, and how Blackie gets his hands on them to sell to the consumer. Better yet, ask Blackie directly. He will tell you the bags aren't made in the U.S.

You are right everyone likes to get free gear.... However I have gotten gear given to me that I did not like for one reason or another, some I just plain hated, others I thought were ok and even some that was great... The point is that you keep and use the good and pass on the other so someone else might like it and use it... And as most people you talk about the gear you have had and the gear that you use and like.. respectfully.
