5 Days into a three week trip to Cairns, we head towards our most remote camp on this trip. Listed as "Unsuitable for Caravans" we did our homework and decide to give this one a go.

Just found your channel - thanks for the video. It is often difficult to find the condition of outback roads so thanks for the descriptions. We agree - some of Queensland's gravel roads are better than some of the tarred highways! And we love that Queensland 'mow' their outback roadsides rather than spraying poisons.

I love your description and the videos. One thing you tell us is the condition of the roads which us hopeful travellers appreciate .Your drone appears to have good video ,could you tell me what brand it is what cost and are they easy to use as I have never owned or used one, I am open to suggestions . We are hoping to start travelling in May/June 2025 .I am getting everything ready now.I have a 21ft tandem off road van with a 3 way fridge 1000 watt solar and 2 x 200ah lithium batteries and a 4kva generator ,hope to free camp a lot .Thanks alot for any information as it would be appreciated.

Yes, roads are always the thing that people want to know about. The dirt roads seem to get the most maintenance with the asphalt ones seemingly laid by the apprentices or work experience kids. The drone is a DJI Air2s which is reasonably good as far as quality goes and they are fairly easy to fly. If you are looking at buying one, look for a model that has 360deg object avoidance. This allows you to have a little more confidence that the in normal fly mode it will make every effort to avoid objects rather than hitting them. The DJI Mini models are really good and a great way to start. Start by flying down at the local footy ground, this way you have plenty of room get to know how it handles. Sounds like you have an awesome set up and plenty of power on your van. Offgrid and free camping is the way to go. Safe travels
