I have a blackburn elite bag and i love it! The divider could be better for sure

Thanks for watching. The divider is garbage, the divider in my new Rogue Panda bag is superior. Have you ever been caught out in a good rain? Cheers

I'm in the same situation as you. I have an Ortlied frame bag that I love. But I wanted a bag with two pockets.I thought I found the perfect bag with the blackburn but you just saved me a lot of money thank you.

Thanks for watching. The Blackburn bag appeared to be a solid choice but I was not happy with the it filling up with water. Also the zippers are still working but are showing signs of failing as they are coil zippers which are not ideal for rugged use in my opinion. I recently had bags made by Rogue Panda and they are pretty awesome. Here is a video I made on them if you are interested. Keep the rubber side down. Cheers kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJrbeHujfK2JeJY

Yeah, thanks for saving my money too. I'd go for a Riverside Full Frame Bag with a rolled close by Decathlon. It is also designed the way it cannot be pushed to the sides and make your knees rub it. I have a top tube bag from them (an awesome bag similar to an Apidura - with a magnetic top cover, 100% waterproof) and a saddle bag harness with a waterproof dry bag with an air valve. Can't say a single bad word about them!

I'm currently on a 5 month bicycle tour. I bought this frame bag for this tour and quickly had the exact same problem as you. I have had to sop up the water out of the bottom of this bag with a rag so many times. Very disappointing. I'm also thinking it must be a zipper failure. Thanks for the video, now I know it's not just me.

Hello. Yes the bag looks so promising. But yes you are right, coil zippers suck. They always fail. My Rogue Panda frame bag is top quality. Cheers

Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…

For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the kislux as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.

I have several Blackburn bags including the full frame bag like yours and I haven’t had any problems with water intrusion. Road across Missouri on the Katy and Mickelson trail in SD.

Hello. I like Blackburn products and could even forgive the waterproof issues, as I have found out most bags would have let water in during the storm I was caught in. But the main thing that I don't like is the very inadequate divider they use. The velcro used to hold it in place is so weak that it never stays in place when loaded. And having a frame bag with divided compartments is what drew me to Blackburn to start with. I just put a new video out on some new custom bags I got from Rogue Panda and the way the divider is done in this frame bag is spot on. Here is a link for the video if your interested.kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJrbeHujfK2JeJY Thanks for watching and your input as well. Cheers

I had Relevate Ripio full frame bag and I also got some water in the bottom of the bag after heavy rain. My guess it could be from water splashing from the front wheel (which is usally a high pressure especially when descending) in the bottom of the bag (not even fender can help protect that area).

Hello. Yes you are probably right, but that fact should be taken into consideration by the manufacturer when designing. The truth is my Ortlieb frame bag has never failed under any rain conditions. So far in my experience no one beats Ortlieb when it comes to waterproof bags. Thanks for watching. Cheers

Hey Smokey that's great to hear! That's my goal with the review videos. Blackburn makes good products but this was my experience so I had to share it. I am in the process of having a custom frame bag made by Rogue Panda as we speak and I have very high hopes for this bag. I reached out to them and to see if they would like to be involved with the channel and the interaction has been fantastic. I should receive the bag first thing in the New Year and will be doing a video on the bag so stay tuned! I love my Rogue Panda frame bag. Yes it was expensive. It does have 2 compartments on the drive side and a skinny one for like phones, snacks maps whatever. I'm glad I got the Rogue Panda bag! it saved a lot of time just getting that bag so I didn't have to try a whole bunch of bags like you did. Thanks for all you videos buddy!!

Hello. I am really looking forward to getting my Panda bag! I have high hopes. I am just curious, have you been caught in the rain or tested the Panda frame bag to see if it is in fact completely waterproof? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks for watching.

@@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures I have been in pretty good rain storms and I haven't noticed a great deal of water inside the bag. I have washed my bike with the bag on and it does get wet on the inside from the hose with the nozzle on the spray mode. I do love the bag! Above and bellow the zippers they put a stretchy material so it expands so you can stuff more stuff in it. The zipper is great!! They do make one without a zipper and it has a roll top, that one would be more waterproof for sure.

I have never been a fan of frame bags, and this serves to explain one reason why. Other reasons include that I would absolutely hate to have a bulging bag between my legs, and I much prefer to carry a couple of good sized water bottles and my frame pump inside the frame triangle. Also I would absolutely avoid using anything with a zipper to hold anything that I valued. I have seen many zippers fail and/or leak when used on outdoor gear and all of my kit is Ortlieb which has no zippers at all (apart from a couple of internal slit-pockets with zippers).
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures Жыл бұрын
Hi Peter. I totally agree with you about the zippers, although I must say that my Ortlieb frame bag is extremely waterproof. Having said that my new frame bag will be a roll down closure. Thanks for the input as always. Cheers

Hi, whenever I see a biketouring setup without a frame bag I think wasted space. My current solution is a 4 litre crank tank which gives me more water carrying than any bottles and a half frame bag on top of it. It’s working great for me. Cheers.
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures Жыл бұрын
@@dennis_aus_neukoelln I could not agree more. It is just logical that any time you can take weight and center it on your bike and lower down is a win for bike handling and stability. In my opinion it is one of the best bags on any setup. Cheers

I had a Blackburn non Elite frame bag and top tube bag a few years ago, both failed when the zippers broke. I may have been a little too rough on the gear but never really thought about getting anything Blackburn again. I made my own frame bags for a while now. I think a custom fitted frame bag looks so neat. But to be honest my zippers also broke, so I am thinking about having a roll top frame bag made. I never had a truly rainproof frame bag. Would be great. I tried some ultralight dry bags but they can’t handle a real downpour or a night out in the rain. Cheers, Dennis.
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures Жыл бұрын
Hello Dennis. I agree with you about the roll top for sure and am torn between the Rogue Panda bag or just going with the Ortlieb roll top frame bag. The truth is Ortlieb has been amazing when it comes to waterproof bags so I am thinking why try anything else? I will decide over the next few days. Thanks for watching. Cheers

I love my revelate designs frame bag. All I usually carry in it is my apidura triangular water bladder. I have a shallow pocket on the non drive side that carries my phone. Mine also has that “Velcro divider” that also doesn’t work, but I never wanted to have compartments. Mine has been bombproof.

Great review Dean, its always a real pity when bags just don't cut it. My budget paniers are really bad, as you'd expect - they work for me on day rides but my Ortlieb are awesome for keeping the rain out. I still put electronics inside a ziplock but that's just added insurance! Bob...

Ziplock bags or lightweight dry bags are also great for organising. I have all my tools and spares in one bag, another one for electronics for example.

A good review and very useful. I use an Apidura frame bag but have no issues with it being waterproof. It stands up to heavy rain here in Thailand even in Monsoons and keeps everything bone dry. It has two flaps that cover the zips for extra protection. I also have a frame bag with two compartments and the Velcro is super strong and does the job of keeping the two compartments separated very well. Take care and have a great time in California. JP
@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures Жыл бұрын
Hi JP. Yes I have heard good things about Apidura and have seen their bags first hand and looks like a very quality product. I am actually torn right now between the custom frame bag and the Ortlieb roll down frame bag, I am thinking Ortlieb has never let me down so why switch? Oh the never ending hunt for the best gear, will it ever end? Probably not lol! Take good care my friend

Too bad for the Blackburn frame bag. Good to know though for those who might have considered buying one. By the way, I fixed my Apidura saddle bag with the help of customer service and bought a carbon seat post to replace my Redshift suspension seat post for my trips. The 35mm travel of the seat post was mostly responsible for the collapse of the nose of the bag. My Apidura should be good to go now. If not, in a near future, I will buy the Revelate Design Terrapin 14l. I had a fantastic exchange with one of the owner via emails. Anyway, I thought you would appreciate the outcome. Take care Dean.

What's that going to change when it's already supposed to be waterproof? It's obviously got a weak point somewhere, and doesn't look like it's been tested properly.
