@@mart_enthe ace plays the same way in short deck as in regular hold ‘em which means that it acts as a 5 in this scenario, kind of like how it’s a “1” for straights and such in regular poker. this gave phil a straight with A 6 7 8 9. hope this helps!

@@DetroitGamblingCards from 2-5 are not in they just play with 36 Cards. Flush is better than a Full House in this game and the Ace also plays as a 5..you can see at 31:54 that ivey has a straight on a board with 6J89A and Ivey has K7.

OK, I'm old school. Never seen a game of 'short deck' hold-em. So the Ace is either high or low, meaning it can be a 5. Also three of a kind beats a straight. All in all, it is a totally F U'p'd game.

All of the 2’s, 3’s, 4’s and 5’s are removed from the standard 52-card deck leaving a game where only 36 cards are used… Which leaves the Ace which can be used as a High or Low so in that hand the Ace was used as a 5 thus giving him the straight draw

o! that ace acts as a wrap-around 5 since 2,3,4,5s are not in the deck! This had me confused for a minute, I did not know about short deck Hold'em! ...and no-one was flinching, as if all good, we see no flagrant error here! So I had to look that up... what a cringe(wtf) moment.
