Sorry, you're wrong in this. The tune was originally by Dominic Miller, they worked it out together to fit to the lyrics written by Sting.

The album liners clearly state "written by Dominic Miller and Sting". You will find the same for several songs, for example for "La Belle Dame Sans Regrets" or, most well-known "Shape of my heart", for which Sting tells the story himself, that Dominic came up with the melody, Sting recognized this was something good and went to write lyrics. They worked it out together then and shaped it into a song. Also some songs of the new album 57th & 9th are collaborations, for example "50000" or "Down, Down, Down". You can easily detect that when you listen to Dominics new album "Silent Light". The piece En Passant clearly shows a very similar sequence of chords as Down, Down, Down and was written by Dominic Miller. As these credits also mean a share of the royalties they are stated as a legal information.

Leocorno is correct. You can usually recognise the songs Dominic co-wrote from the style of guitar playing on them which is very similar to this version and how he plays his own solo work.
