Was expecting to see more walnut burl in the table. Maybe cutting the thickness of the wanut burl in 1/2 thickness, put in more burl pieces, and cement the burls in place atop the black resin, and then pour in the clear resin sealing the final resin table !!! More burl edges !

As usual a great job from BFWC. The top is magnificent, and I am always a fan of your X base. I notice that you wipe on the black stain to the Ash base and then leave it to dry. I know that you can still see the timber grain even when the stain is so solid. Do you Guys ever consider the wipe on wipe off method that still darkens the timber but allows more of the grain to be visible? It is a method that I employ on my work and I am happy with the effect that creates. Again with me, it is all about the timber so I prefer more timber less resin but hey this is working for you so great job and keep these video's coming. Cheers Michael.

We’ve actually got a few pieces in our office finished like that. I like that look too. We usually go solid black for the custom pieces as per client request. One of my favourite X bases we did was solid wenge with a clear coat!

It’s a beautiful table and you guys do nice work. Although I do think the multiple round slabs make it look like the old game asteroids. Still beautiful nonetheless. Now while I don’t think you all implied in the thumbnail that it actually took over 2000 man hours to complete this table, it would’ve been nice to see some commentary to back up the statement in the thumbnail that it took three years to make this day. A lot of the people that watch these videos are inspiring woodworkers who may want to see the same thing and the statement like that implies to them that there were some reason why this table took an extra ordinary long amount of Time

Hey Dylan (or anybody that knows), What do you sand your epoxy tables to? Osmo calls for 120 grit max, but epoxy needs at least 320 to remove swirl marks.. What is the proper method?

Beautiful price again. Dylan can I ask a question as a novice resin worker. I tried pouring my first table the other day but only to fill a crack and a void. I used packing tape and painters tape to seal the back side of the crack but it still leaked. Not sure why though as it all seemed totally sealed it also seemed that the run off resin has soaked into the wood can that be sanded out?? I have pictures if you have a chance to look at them for advice? Any would be appreciated. Can I ask if you no what's went wrong. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hey Michael! If you’re using a deep pour resin we usually find that tape on its own isn’t enough. We use a piece of plywood coated with tuck tape, we out line the void in the underside with silicone, and then clamp the piece of plywood to the void. Should be no problem sanding out that resin!
