After listening to the Post Mortem episode of Creatures of the Night Podcast, I agree that this challenge should be THE first challenge of every season. It gives the audience an idea how the contestants incorporate their style of drag into the horror genre.

scyllas look/performance was the perfect example of how concept & performance and the visceral feeling a look/show gives you is more important than raw technique/polish/cost of a look, and that was one of the original like core messages of dragula i feel, so it felt weird to see that slip away. I mean i don’t think her look was top3 bc so many others really killed it, but her getting such harsh critiques there was odd. Her entrance look tho i cant forgive 💀

Yeah, I do still love Dragula but I feel like recent seasons have gotten away from some of that unpolished, grimy quality of the first couple seasons. I think some early looks and performances that were praised may be criticized if they premiered nowadays.

What it was for me is that scylla seemed like she was *overly* relying on filth, other than that her craftmanship was sketch and her look just wasn't very creative. She was the human centipede and thats it.

The good thing I love about the cast so far is I don’t really see a clear winner yet, and I love that. I see a lot of top contenders but most of the time I can see at least one monster that I think is gonna win on the very first episode. But not this cast, it’s a mixed bag. Edit: For example, Season 2 was similar in that way to where I didn’t really know who was gonna win. But like last season, Niohuru just stood out so much with her unique style and aesthetic that I guessed she would win when I watched the very first episode. Same with Vander and Landon.

Was it the most polished of the bunch? No -- but Scylla's look made me react in a way few looks have on Dragula! I was shocked and disgusted in the BEST way and something about her facial expressions really made me believe she was a twisted villainous version of the "classical story." That said, I mean, what can I say about Auntie, Asia, Grey, and Majesty? Absolute PERFECTION in every sense. This season is amazing already, and has honestly ruined any other drag franchise for me at this point.

As far as Aurora being in the bottom: for me, it had a large part to do with me (and the BB's themselves) not really getting what horror icon she was paying tribute to. Severity was pretty low energy (I hope they're okay, seemed like they were going through something), and Yuri had some issues with her reveal, but I could at least tell what they were tributing. With Aurora, though... to quote Brother #2 for the Halloween House Party on Titans: There's a house party happening, you walk in, and go 'Oh, Art The Clown, Dracula, Leatherface... what the f*ck is that?' In other words, "Aurora as... ???"

Didn't watch the episode, so not sure if they mentioned it, but I believe she's doing a Boris Karloff's Mummy reference. I think the reference is there, but the overall presentation is a bit more basic/subdued than others' on the runway. Kinda just saw glamour, without the filth or much horror. Still pretty, though.

Swan was absolutely right. These competitors have been trying out for years and this is their re-imagine horror icon. Some where not re anything. A few were just the same as we've seen them, some were to simple to the eye, and a few were amazing. The ones that got it right, really got it right. One more thing. If you take away the wheel chair from Magisty, his look was very simple much like like Yuri's. I expected so much more from these 2. Love the show though.🖤
