The Q&A blog for this episode is quite good, I recommend it. Among other things, it talks about how for simplicity's sake they stuck to feats only within Three Houses and Three Hopes since it was Fire Emblem's first foray into Death Battle, when in truth, not only do pretty much all the games scale directly to each other (the Outrealms and Xenologues from Awakening and Fates are canon, and the Archanae, Ylisse, Valentia, and Jugdral games all take place on the same planet anyway, just different continents and time periods), but also Fire Emblem Engage provides deep evidence that all the Emblems in that game are not only perfect copies of the FE characters they resemble, including strength and speed, but also all scale equally to one another. And that isn't even the full extent of it. Veronica from Fire Emblem Heroes is in Engage as an Emblem just the same as the rest, but her home game FEH is so powerful that for example FEH!Lucina would beat Dragon Ball Heroes Trunks in a Death Battle. And the only real reason not to scale everyone to their FEH versions all the time is that it would make all the actually popular Fire Emblem matchups incredibly onesided haha. That's a bit of a tangent on my part lol, but my point with it other than it being a good read is that Dimitri is in fact faster than Guts as you talked about, this episode was just kept simple and straightforward and focused on the crucial advantages. I'm really excited for next time! Surfer in particular has had some incredible comic runs recently that really leaned into trippy abstract colors and 70's aesthetics for his adventures through dimensions, and I've long wanted a comic book match to really lean into that. Crossing my fingers that Dawn will be involved in his analysis, and that the animation will include the Power Cosmic turning into ladybug colors because of her

Awesome. Is Engage canon like Dissidia is to Final Fantasy? (Shocked me too but it's officially canon. Wouldn't have believed it if it wasn't in a director interview) Yeah as much as I'm tired of the general concept of Marvel vs DC fights all the goddamn time, I'm also just glad they found a good opponent for Martian Manhunter. And by "good" I mean "not Piccolo". I love Piccolo he's my favorite Dragon Ball character but oh god I never got that matchup, as I said. Oh yeah, re: Lucina, the character I usually see for her is PMD Grovyle. Is that a good match? I haven't played either game (much to my PMD loving bestie's abject horror).

@@BJGvideos Heroes would probably be a better comparison to Dissidia, both in terms of degree of canonicity but also plot. Engage is "just" another numbered mainline entry, that simply added some anniversary elements. Some of my favorite long running tokusatsu shows have done the same thing. Piccolo and J'onn, yeah it does make sense but it is pretty underwhelming compared to this one in both themes and debate. I'm glad we got Surfer, he's a wonderful character. I don't expect it to happen but should Piccolo get on the show I would hope he gets Macaque from Monkie Kid. MK is a show also based on Sun Wukong with the same kind of flashiness and scale as DB, and Macaque has the same character arc as Piccolo of going from evil rival/antagonist to the Sun Wukong analogy, to eventually mellowing out through similar means and training their successor in Gohan and MK. It's also pretty fair, but Piccolo should be just a bit stronger to my knowledge I am a bit sad that the fandom worked up such a storm about MvDC fights though, because (with the exception of the very uninspired season 7) MvDC fights really aren't that repetitive considering just how varied most powersets and contexts are. At least in comparison to the fact that when you bring up the sheer number of Dragon Ball episodes with characters who possess practically identical abilities, you get crucified for it. Lucina vs PMD Grovyle is neither my favorite (don't really have one but maybe Ciri from The Witcher) nor the most popular Lucina match, (that's definitely Ciri) but it makes a lot of sense and would definitely work. I'd be down to see it, at least over Lucina vs Zelda which i know at least one researcher for DB has talked about. That also makes sense, it's just rather underwhelming

@@csk7769 Ah ok I couldn't remember which one Engage was. That's more my friend Netbug's realm of expertise. I know Marvel vs DC fights can be varied in their presentation and all but it's still two series dominating all the attention. That's what makes it repetitive.

14:15 not the case. Three Houses has 4 endings(3 for each main house and 1 secret route where you side with the Church). None of them are considered the true ending.

Ageusia is actually a symptom of trauma in some cases, weirdly enough. It’s also very unlikely for a person to recover their sense of taste and if they do, it’s usually metallic and unpleasant from what I’ve learnt

The entire support conversation between Dimitri and Flayn is exactly about this symptom. Flayn is an awful cook, but Dimitri is the only one who not only eats her dishes, but likes it from reasons he can't explain.

@@dorohime7001 Huh...Funny thing is that seems like it would fit his Kami side, the whole "guardian" aspect. But Piccolo is much smarter, and while I don't know Sonic lore much at all (stg Death Battle and videos talking about the massive wankfest that is the Ken Penders bullshit are my primary sources on Sonic lore), I'm pretty sure Super Hero seals the deal on Piccolo being much stronger as well.

It's weird Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes wasn't mentioned. The same team of writers worked on both, and they made sure information from both games are canon to each other.

@@BJGvideos Three Houses is already four routes with no "true ending," so Three Hopes just adds three more. Three Hopes implies Shez was killed right before the Three Houses routes, which is the only reason things happened so differently in both games.

@@notwesley9180 Sweet. How is that treated in canon? Like, obviously it can't be in the same timeline as Three Houses but is it entirely non-canon or is it "canon but in a different timeline"?

@@BJGvideos Think of it as a similar vein to Age of Calamity, but actually canon. There's a few key differences in their timelines however. 1. Byleth is actually one of the antagonists for most of the game 2. Dimitri actually realizes his uncle is the man behind the tragedy of duscur pretty early on 3. Edelgard is essentially lobotomized by said uncle 4. You play as an entirely new character, who couldn't be more different from Byleth But due to Three Hopes being finished long after Three Houses, Houses actually doesn't reference anything from Hopes
