It's unsurprising that people consider Jecht/Braska's Final Aeon the true final boss of FFX. They do the same with Safer-Sephiroth in VII.

that's because safer sephiroth IS the final boss. the last bit is just for show. it's not meant to be a battle. it's a one button press deal. with yu yevon, it plays like any battle and it's meticulously done. it plays like any other fight, unlike the end of ff7

And if that weren't enough, Young Xehanort is considered by many to be the true final boss instead of the Armored Ventus Nightmare. Sure, the latter was more of a filler, hence infamy of the former, but even then he should be considered more as the final boss.

As much as I'd hate to say it, Ventus Nightmare was pretty much entirely cutscenes. It also has a surprisingly low amount of health and attack power for the boss coming after Y. Xehanort. While it is, by name, the final boss, he seems more like the victory lap after your victory against Y. Xehanort.But I'll admit, it was flashy as hell.

In my opinion, Undyne the Undying was a much better-designed boss in Undertale's Genocide route than Sans was. While Undyne's attacks were devastating if you got hit, they had some easy patterns to learn, and honestly, the fight was fun. Sans, on the other hand, is supposed to punish people for almost beating the game. How does that work? Oh right, it was a *bad boss made on purpose to prove a moral point*.

I think the biggest problem with Aztec Falcon is that it is not all that difficult to get an A or S Rank on the first mission, so he will end up using his EX Attack (which the bosses only use when you have A or S rank to provide extra challenge). He isn't as bad without his EX Attack, but he is still a pain.

Demon Wall 2.0? no, it is actually an easy boss. Just two rules, to win: 1. Train your magic or take walnuts with you 2. the eyes become untargetable if they do specific actions. To sum it up, like many secret of mana bosses, it can easily be killed with spell-lockdown (the reason that was removed in secret of mana 2)

The thing about the plot defense for Yu Yevon is it doesn't portray that message well at all. Yu Yevon doesn't feel like a weakling, he feel like a normal boss battle, except you have permanent auto life... (and he lacks important boss immunities).

Honestly I had no problems with Yu Yevon because it was so short. These days they would probably replace it with a quicktime event. Also I freaked out because I was spent after beating the Final Aeon, so the plot over gameplay device really worked for me.

You know what I'd love to see you do? A countdown of the Sengoku Basara characters, from worst to best. Or at least your ten favorites. Have to agree with #9. That whole chapter was my least favorite part of Kid Icarus Uprising. I didn't even know that I was supposed to destroy the green energy orbs in order to damage Pyrhon until I looked it up on the Internet. You'd think the game would have told you how to beat him like it did with just about every other boss in the game.

I hated Aurum Pyrrhon too. I actually had to google how to hit him because Pauletena and Viridi only tell you to jump and shoot. Any boss that I have to GOOGLE how to do damage to it deserves whatever hate it gets in my opinion.

Aztec Falcon is only hard if you don't have to foresight to level up your Buster Gun and Z-Saber to at least be able to charge them. Seriously, it doesn't take long, the Gun can be done as early as before getting to the Golem in the opening stage.

Number 1 would be every villain from Xenogears. Grahf, Miang, Krelian and Ramsus all feel like actual humans and the only other villains that I consider close to actual humans in terms of personality are Sephiroth and Egil.

Time Glitch Kefka does his job as a villain well, but he's not human. The only thing he wants is destruction, and why? Because he thinks killing is cool. Sephiroth on the other hand wants to show the world that he wants to be considered a person, not a killing machine, and that same motivation is also Ramsus's one. I love Kefka, don't get me wrong, but in terms of deep personality Sephiroth is better.

The sonic lost world fight you talk about reminds me of King cut-out from dk64. Loved the game but with the annoying boozed he makes when he is bouncing around in his last part of the fight and then there is the crapy cannons you have to use. I guess it is better that you have all 5 kongs to your use. But you have to be fast in the last phase or you lose on of your kongs.

I know this was made 6 years ago, but a little honorable mention I'd like to give is to Ryu in Street Fighter Alpha 3 - specifically when he's the penultimate boss of Sakura's Arcade Mode route. This boss fight just IRKED ME. Ryu just Hadouken spammed to NO END, and when I managed to get close to him, he either punched or Shoryukened me. And keep in mind, I was playing Alpha 3 using the 30th Anniversary Collection *_ON THE LOWEST DIFFICULTY SETTING._*

Heh, when you mentioned Devil May Cry 3 I was certain you would choose Gigapede (giant flying tapeworm for those who haven't played the game) for being a boring boss fight in an excellent game. Then again I can understand your hate for Arkham battle - the worms are annoying, but Vergil can really help with them - thank GOD Vergil immortal in that fight. Suprised you didn't mention Arkham's homing projectiles-tentacle attack - they are pain to avoid. Still I do not dislike this battle, the concept is nice - Arkham's "true form" is as deformed as his heart (he sacrificed his own wife - that's messed up), I heard second player can control Vergil and music is nice. Sure, they could make it better but I still prefer it over Jester's bullet hell battles from special edition. Nice countdown anyway.

I agree. Gigapede was a super lame boss. No skill is required outside of dodging and jumping on its back to damage it. The Arkham fight really wasn't that bad to me. Honestly, I just bullrushed him and managed to win. Had to use a couple of items, but that was years ago when I as a gamer was more concerned with winning and progressing, even if the methods I used were cheap. Eh. Jester's bullet hell fight was annoying, but a few key dodges and parries, along with capitalizing on damage opportunities made it pretty simple. Honestly, the boss I probably hate the most in DMC 3 is Cerberus. The lack of mobility in that boss fight really frustrated me.

my least favorite boss battle is surely Azazel, from Tekken 6... and for JUST. ONE. REASON: "AUTO-BLOCK"... seriously, how many times i tried to attack that thing in the middle of his attacks, and i see that block animation followed by his GODDAMN combos. And that's only the beginning, because it also has lasers, that mosquito projectiles, that rolling... there's not a single thing that i don't hate about this boss besides the endings where he dies for sure

I played the Wii U version of Sonic Lost World. And while you have the option to make the bosses easier, only 2 of the 19 bosses were bad in my opinion. Coincedentaly those bosses were two of the three Zeena fights.

Nice list, couldn't agree more with how obnoxious or tedious these bosses are . Also i'm Glad you gave secret of mana a try. with my nostalgia glasses off the game has A LOT of faults as you've mentioned, but for the most part it was a solid game. Though someone once pointed out that there seems to be stuff missing from the games story. Hope it gets a remake one day, fixing all the game play issues as well as mending the story and what seems to be missing.

JJ Slider Funny thing with the boost guardian; you can kill him easily if you don't morph. Just jump up and down in human form and shoot him when he slows down. Makes a difficult boss easy as cake.

The sorrow boss fight from mgs3. It offers a great message, like yu yevan. Problem is how boring it is. The first time I played was the worst. I killef a whole lot of people so the battle was very. I played it once but forgot that if you save in a boss fight, you will start from the start. I then beated him but didn't know about the fake death, so back to the beginninf. I've finally beaten it the third time

+MaverichHunterZero75 I know Sengoku Basara and my favorite characters are Tokugawa Ieyasu and Date Masamune (my favorite samurai in real life too). My favorite boss battles are Osaka Dragon Summer (fighting my two favorite characters and a giant mech), and the Sekigahara battles against Mitsunari (as they make me feel like I'm killing Mitsunari and becoming shogun), I never fought Kobayakawa Hideaki (always go with Nankobo Tenkai), and my least favorite boss battles are Amago Haruhisa (I like chasing bosses throughout the whole stage, but instead of having him run they have him hide and finding him is booooooooooooring!), and Naoe Kanetsugu (two words and a number: Yu Yevon 2). What about you? Are you with the West or with the East?

I honestly disagree with Yu yevon being a bad boss fight, it perfectly encompasses the whole point of the character, he used the religon that sprang up around him, the summoners and their guardians to maintain his life and control over pretty much the entire planet through fear. Id argue that if they did make him really tough that it would have made less sense simply because if he was really that strong on his own he wouldnt rely on others so much to maintain his grip on power and life. The easiness of the fight shows how, after stripping away his "armor" he is nothing but a pathetic creature hiding behind others to seem powerful

Fantastic list! Though here's my take on what my least favorite boss is, that being the final boss of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Alduin the World Eater. Despite the fact that the game constantly hammers in how powerful Alduin is and how the fight between him and the Dragonborn at the end of time will decide the fate of Tamriel, the fight is so easy that's just insulting. With the exception of one shout fighting him is no different than fighting any other dragon in the game, by the time you reach him you will more than likely be equipped with gear that can tank his attacks and kill him in just a few hits, and to make the fight even easier there are THREE OTHER WARRIORS fighting him with you(kinda contradicts what the story was setting up). And to make matters worse, after you beat Alduin, you are rewarded with one of the worst Dragon Shouts in the game. Not gonna lie, it's pretty disappointing.

I was gonna say your point regarding the Zor fight was stupid since you being on a road trip was the real issue, but then it occurred to me. That game is on a *handheld* , as in a system meant to be *taken on the go.* So yeah the developers should have considered the situations people might be in when playing that game.

I was actually one of those defenders of Yu Yevon's patheticness, but I immediately said afterward that it doesn't excuse how terrible the boss is. I like that kind of symbolism, but at the same time I agree with critics of Yu Yevon and Jasper Batt Jr. in that such a message should never come at the cost of game design and the player's enjoyment.

The only thing that comes to mind when i think of bosses i hate is Fawful Express from M+L Bowser's Inside Story. The only way to hit it is with the flame attack, which uses the microphone to blow as hard as possible. I have asthma, which makes this difficult to do. Pro Tip: Take breaks after each turn to give yourself some air.

You do have a bit of leeway on the flame breath, but I have a few suggestions. Don't mess up on the hill monster or on the bombs, that's how you'll be doing the most damage. (Burn the hill monster for as long as possible, even if it means intentionally botching the attacks that would actually damage the monster.)

There's actually another Fighting game boss who does this also. In Aquapazza: Aquaplus Dream Battle, the way their Resurrection works is that if you defeat them too fast, the boss will tell the game to "do a retake" which basically not only brings them back to full health, but also resets the battle so that you have NO SUPER GAUGE. I'll still say that Gill's resurrection is annoying, but the question I have is why the f*ck do developers think it's okay for their bosses to have this?!

Content wise, Gill is using the last ounce of his power to revive himself for one final strike! In Aquapazza, that bitch of a boss just literally for the game to do a retake that benefits her, but not you! 2. Gill's Resurrection can be interrupted, or even prevented. How do you stop that in Aquapazza?

+geekgo4 Sadly, there's no way to stop it or prevent it. The only advice I can give is to be prepared when the boss does the retake because they'll immediately attack you once the retake is over. What makes it worse is that the game treats it like a Super Move, so time stops while it's happening, making it impossible to stop. The only good thing about it is that they can only perform it once and they tend to use it after you win a round of the fight. It's best to simply set it to two rounds.

IMHO, Hades's Heart is the worst boss fight in Kid Icarus: Uprising! It is extremely frustrating, it is hard to see where the boss is going to go, his attacks are extremely cheep, you're fighting him in a compact maze environment, and unlike Aurum Pyrrhon, it does not effect anny progression of the story whatsoever! With the exception that your Three Sacred Treasures get destroyed very early on.
