I think this level of detail is really helpful to your Subbies/Viewers who are considering investing in high end film making equipment. It will guide them towards making a purchase that aligns with their project requirements.

Anything about Blackmagic excites me and I really don't know why but yeah I agree with some of your takes about the pyxis

I already own and am currently learning FX30. I am watching this because I am eyeing the Blackmagic ecosystem in the future.

The Blackmagic ecosystem is great. Colours are fantastic for its price

Believe me, when I tell you, they will put the built in ND’s on version two so that you buy the next camera. There’s No doubt this was a business decision. That’s what I would’ve done if I own that company.

I totally agree

I wouldn’t go so far as to say I ‘hate’ the things you mentioned. But, I do agree with a few points: 1. I also wish the buttons were backlit. I use the camera in low light often and it is annoying searching for the right button to press when none of them are backlit. 2. I also think this camera is very heavy compared to its competitors. The C80 and Komodo-X do seem to weigh less. With that said, I would be careful with which EasyRig you purchase. The max load on the standard and stabil Easyrig is only 15.5 pounds. Once you add a v-mount battery and other accessories, you'll quickly realize that you're going over the 15.5 pound weight limit. I would buy the Easyrig Vario version to be on the safe side. 3. Lack of wifi and HDMI. I guess foregoing the wifi helps with keeping the cost down? But for the life of me, I can't understand why they couldn't give us an hdmi port. Heck, I would have been happy with a mini-hdmi port. Regardless, I love my Pyxis cameras. While there may be no objective way to quantify the enjoyment of using this camera, the experience of filming with it is undeniably enjoyable.

Thank you. This is a well detailed reply. I know we can't have the perfect camera but I think the NEXUS might be one. But I still 'LOVE' my Pyxis

I mainly work with crews on set. That being said, I almost never see anyone shooting with a RED Komodo/x, FX6, ARRI, shoot w/o an external monitor. There is a reason so many monitor companies are successful. Business is good for them. I love that the Pyxis monitor on the side is perfect for filming vertical content. The weight is helpful to handheld shooting. I created an excel spreadsheet to build out rig combos and note the weight.

@@mmlewis1030 I’ve been wanting to create an Excel sheet for this same reason. My Pyxis rigs range between 13.5 pounds to 22 pounds. Having an excel sheet with precise numbers would help me rig the Pyxis for its appropriate Steadicam, Easyrig, Readyrig, and all the others. Thank you for bringing this up! I might just work on it this weekend.

@ It’s been very useful. Parts that look light turns out aren’t that light at all. There are others that look bulky but are relatively light.

These are some interesting points you raised. But I feel the camera isn't built for you sir 😃 They might take into consideration some especially the weight and backlight for the buttons

I agree 100% and think a v-mount battery would have been better!

Thank you for watching. I have updated my last video with Captions. I am usually a one man band but will try to have these on all my videos going forward. I appreciate you mentioning this.
