I am absolutely stunned by how amazing this ended up looking! Can you pleaaaase make assets for some classical fantasy version of the modular approach? It would greatly expand my collection and I would love to give this build a try! I simply don't play any cyberpunk games so I have no use for these ones specifically.

If you want a rather cheap game that works well for Cyberpunk, look at Rogue Stars, theming is pretty much all you need there to make it work. Unfortunately, it doesn't really work for WW1 and earlier settings, but works with pulps, WW2, and later things just by retheming things
@C._Bradford
@C._Bradford 10 ай бұрын
IDK how well it would work with fantasy. SciFi, and cyberpunk specifically can ger away with really boxy, brutalist/modernist designs that don't make much sense in a fantasy setting. Definately possible but it would take a lot more time, and probably won't look as good.
@sevendeadlysins6430
@sevendeadlysins6430 10 ай бұрын
@@C._Bradford I definitely see what you're saying. I'd be looking more for like rocky small mountains or blocks brick made ruins. Modular levels is the one thing my combat mats are missing and I have come up with my own solutions from time to time but nothing modular and it's always relatively speaking a burden. Knowing it's possible with such a small amount of materials is game changing though, so even if he doesn't bother with fantasy theme, I've at least got a framework and if I get the time an imaging template for the specifics!

@@janeblogs324 it literally used 2 sheets of foamcore that cost $1 each and a dozen printed sticker papers that you can have printed for well under $5 if you don’t own a printer. I wonder how some of you navigate the world…
@lauraevans2104
@lauraevans2104 9 ай бұрын
@@janeblogs324 I’m going to assume that you were listening to the video in the background and missed where Jeremy said you can take it in to a print service and have it printed for pretty darn cheap, in color and on sticker paper. So you don’t have to own a printer or buy a big pack of sticker paper. But, if that’s still too much, here’s some more alternates. Take it to a local library, ask if you can print out the sheets, it will be either free or like $.15/sheet. They’ll probably print them in black and white on regular printer paper. Take those suckers home and grab a cardboard box, Amazon, old moving box. One from the recycling center in your apartment complex. Get a cheap glue stick from your local dollar shop and glue it to the card board. Cut it out, then grab that small box of crayons or colored pencils and color it however you like (might have to get that from the dollar store too). Then take some white Elmer’s style glue and glue the cardboard together. If you don’t have white glue keep the scraps of paper you cut off and use it as binding strips. Like Jeremy said to do with those texture strips in the corners. If you use those and attach with a glue stick and then reinforce on the inside with scraps it will be pretty structurally sound. This cost bus fair, $.75 - $1 in prints, nothing for the cardboard, maybe $1 for glue, possibly two if you buy white glue too (if you don’t already have it)and then possibly $1 for coloring utensils if you don’t have those. So this could be bus fair plus $.75 cents up to bus fair plus $3.75. That’s pretty cheep and you can print off stand 2d stand up minis as well if you want them so may be up to $4 outside of transportation. That’s a pretty cheap game night and it’s reusable and reconfigurable.

I'd personally use the strength of foamcore for these buildings. That is: leaving 1 paperback side and cut out edges of the thickness of the foamcore to fit them all neatly together. Plus side: you have 2 sides (foamcore edge + the paperback) to apply adhesive to for the same edge. No need to apply additional hot glue on the inside. And no ned for additional stripes to cover. Only make a cut on the long sides for the roofs and on the small sides a cut for the roof and on both sides. Of course, this needs adjusted scaling of the print for the sides/top. Otherwise nice quick & dirty terrain =)

Great video and project! Im liking the glitchy transitions on the production side. You covered a lot of ground on papercraft and mounting stuff. From my experience mounting 2x3 posters on to foam core I would add, if you dont have a cork backed metal ruler, they are great, they reduce slipping by a ton, you mention keeping the ruler on the image and cutting away the white this also prevents you from cutting into the image if you come off the ruler, and running a black or dark colored sharpy over the edges of the paper before gluing it down will hide the white edge of the paper. I make books on occasion so I have a bone folder for burnishing but if you use just your hand, take off any rings, Ive marred a few posters by doing that! There a lot of papercraft folks out there, Im sure they have some great advice too. Thanks for the free files! awesome! I also really like the Tenfold Dungeon nesting design. If I make something like this, Im going to aim for that. I think my kids would enjoy playing with these too, just kind of as toys, the stackable verticality I think theyd really like. A good basic craft they could also help make! Great project! Thanks for doing it!!!

I've been using 8.5" x 11", full sheet label paper for 28mm fantasy terrain, for years, applying PDF terrain printout's to 3mm cardboard. It never occurred to me to use the same concept on corrugated cardboard, MDF, or foam core, for my Army Men games terrain. A friend laser cut buildings for me, out of MDF, but it needs to be sealed, before painting. Painting is a lot of work... This can simplify, and speed things up, exponentially. Cheers!
