Nice setup, and yes, charring is one thing I remember from the beekeepers when I was growing up. They said it was the best way to keep their bees healthy. Some of them even wrapped their bee landing boards with silver impregnated cloth. Silver is known as a deterrent for bacteria.

Fun to watch you use the "Beast" for sure. I'm glad to see you address the use of used equipment and what you can do to mitigate the danger. Most of us are not likely to have enough boxes to justify going out for a "Beast" though. It would have been handy if you gave us a small clip using the plumber's torch too.

Watch out for air pockets in the block. They can pop bit of concrete out at high speed. Eye protection is a must!

Now that’s a torch, now you known why here in the south we don’t paint boxes outdoors, we simple scores them for conservation instead of paint

I wondered about the old timers telling me to char my hives. They said something about bees liking lightning struck trees. I have asked people should I char my bee boxes. No real answers till today. Thanks I will tell the old timers when I see them.
