A big reason why Most Wanted is so loved is the cops system. They couldn't hurt you so they had to be relentless and box you in. You had plenty ways to get rid of them. Either ram them fast enough, especially their lighter back side, or use a pursuit breaker. Unbound cops is just most wanted cops but with no smart box in tactics, so they made you take damage, and removed pursuit breakers. To give you a something in return they made each cop have a weakness. This makes the whole chasing and escaping experience awful. You are no longer an unstoppable badass, and cops are weak and a nuisance that eat away at your literal lifespan with a reward of a few dollars after you escape. Unite mod makes cops hit you more often wich makes things worse. Now they will ram you in races all the time, making you restart races even more , and kill you more often. Either give us a way to fight back like an EMP, pursuit breakers, oil from behind car, or just remove the cops . They are a waste of time and boring.

I still think Heat did it best for this new era bc you could still take out cops and was still in good shape too take a few more out it was a lot better having 3 times too use a gas station then waiting 2 mins, with Unbound the cops are downgraded but they felt more annoying then "Oh no I need to get out of here" if they going too keep the damage system they need to make us have some advantages around the cops, bring back take down spots like in most wanted or cool down spots again

I'll give you a bit of a break because I did enjoy the game and cars but the fact that the cops take half your health with on small tap in that game even with the impact protection and on the easy difficulty. That's what sucked about the game the most.

The dev of United changed it isnt the same team that devlopped NFS heat United , and there is also the fact that it is the early version of the mod ( if you look at the first version of heat unite you will see that it wasnt as good looking as the latest versions )

Theo, have you updated Unite to the 1.0.1 patch? It increases player car health as it was too low at release, since I heard you mention not liking it in the video. Anyway I did the cops for Unite so to elaborate a bit more: - The amount of backups before the heat increases is the heat level number times two. So at heat 3, the 6th time they call in backup it will go to heat 4. The only exception is if you start a pursuit at a higher heat level (by gaining heat from races), then that heat level will go up to the next level twice as fast. - The corvettes and all that are still in the mod. Basically heat level 5 is similar to the other heats where the difficulty continues to increase as more backup waves get called in. Heat 5 difficulty maxes out at ten waves of backup or five waves if you already were at max heat by doing races. So what you've tested in the video was still peanuts for a maxed out car. - The difficulty levels have a big impact on cop difficulty in Unite. Lower difficulty equals slower cops, longer backup times, less aggression, shorter cooldowns,... so there is something for everyone. - There was some issues with the cops their driving abilities at release. They've been ironed out in patch 1.0.1 as much as is possible so if you haven't upgraded, definilty do!

On the unite server, they say that each heat level should be manageable for each respective car tier. Eg, heat 1 should be manageable for B, through to heat 5 being manageable for S+

They haven't gotten the cops right for years. Part of that is allowing all the offroading too, before you were bottleneck in situations. Crashing through roadblocks, Pursuit breakers and Chase breakers.

I dont find heat lv5 difficult in the game since ive never been busted but i haven't tried the mod but I usually go towards the mountains and fly off cliffs ,do tons of quick uturns, quick lane switching to make some cops crash,get some distance then turn my engine off under a tree.

​@@H3llfire320I think he means like tie each Heat Level to the car Classes because there's 5 Heat Levels and 5 Classes in NFS Unbound. Limit them to just one Heat Level per Class so the Cops would look more balanced e.g. B Class = Heat Level 1, A Class = Heat Level 2, A+ Class = Heat Level 3, S Class = Heat Level 4, and S+ Class = Heat Level 5.

@@H3llfire320 Not really. Remember that in NFSMW Heat levels were locked behind story progression, which mean that later in the game, when you get faster cars, you unlock higher heats. This is the problem with Heat and Unbound, you can encounter Heat 5 cops even when you've literally just started the game.

​@@H3llfire320Not really, it's just scaling. Like any RPG, you could have Hard difficulty AI but scaled to your level so you don't get one shotted but you'll still have a hard time. Tie the spawned police vehicle types to the heat level and also tie in the manoeuvres they use to try to bust you, but limit their rubber banding, top speed and car performance to the player's vehicle class.

Honestly I think the cop in this past two game is fine. People have to realize the dev need to balance cops for all classes of vehicles from a slow miata to the fast GTR. This unite version is cool for S+ but it's impossible for D class cars. Now I would say if they take out the health bar, and add more cop cars...I'm all for it.

I loved the police in Heat. First NFS where I was actually scared of them. This is the kind of police I want in Unbound. Make them relentless, make them scary. But also, there should be some cars, like the SUVs and Trucks that should be made heavier and better against the police, because it doesn't seem right for a F150 for example to lose health at the same rate as a Porsche 911 or a Ferrari.

Word. I prefer Unbound over Heat or even all the other NFS for the most part but when it comes to the cops, I feel Heat does it best of all NFS games. They're made to be dangerous & your goal is to escape them as soon as you can, as it should be. People praise MW05's cops to hell & back, but in that game you also don't have car health so the hundreds of cops they throw at you just feels like you're mowing down mobs in Dynasty Warriors. So long you're not doing anything stupid & avoid getting boxed, you're good to go. MW05's pursuits also take too long on top of. Since Heat's pursuit goal is to avoid confrontation or even contact, and escape ASAP, they're also much shorter (even the longer high heat pursuits) & more satisfying to run from. Unbound got it somewhat right with the Gauntlet cops. I love their aggression in these and I do wish these same ones are used for the overworld cop AI as well, especially to make Linkups more risky to partake in & escape from once its over. Also agreed on the car health part. As is, using the fastest & most nimble S+ cars benefits you better since all cars have the same health, which just makes it broken & renders the heavier cars pretty much useless.

@BlackPanthaa I always played the game in the "normal" (challenging) difficulty. I recently just deleted the save data to replay through the story. But this time, I put it in relaxed. Let's just say they somehow put NFS 2015 cops in Unbound. XD Meanwhile, I never even tried putting the game in the hardest difficulty bc I already had enough rubber banding from the enemies and the cops were a pain (I always do all races, so 100% during the night I will be going against lvl5 cops with underpowered B class car for higher bet money.) Anyway, my point is that there is a difference in each difficulty for the cops and it is felt more if you are building cars in each class to gain the highest bets possible (which I am doing now bc I'm just playing in the relaxed difficulty). I was doing so before just to earn more money and also just cause. It made me retry some times bc of dumb crashes here and there from "how tf did my car touch that traffic???" to "Oh shit. Skill issue, I guess. Lol." But yeah. In the difficulty setting, it explicitly mentions that cops are different, too, if I am not incorrect.

from the looks of it the ai is so much more dumb in this version compared to vanilla, maybe that's just me but that's what it felt like. Regardless, most of the time cops would only ever spot you in a race since the radar jammer would practically always keep cops off you.

I just want heat unite cops and I wanna see high heat races return with premium part rewards. Also I need the cops to have a bigger presence like you said this is nfs . They need to be in more races and play a bigger role. Like i wanna see helicopters dropping bombs and and spike belts again . But they are gonna have to adjust cop vs player health and manage that until they find a sweat spot. And also who is there no way for the player to play as a cop .like am I the only that wants to chase other players in take downs and free roam and maybe even in races . Call in spike belts road blocks and rhino? Criterion is really leaving alot of features out of nfs and it kills me.

Well, i mean, i'm almost at the first weekend race in Unbound, and the last two ingame sessions (Day and Night) i lost 50.000 each. (Might be skill issue idk) Heat level 5 with an A class car in the base game is really difficult. It's probably easier with higher class cars, but my only S class car is the McLaren F1 from the NFS Heat bonus, which i haven't used in a heat 5 chase yet. I'm guessing ya'll think the cops are too easy on a maxxed car... Which is understandable, but aren't you supposed to feel and be fast in your overpowered maxxed car?

Why is it that people who mod games do a better job of giving players what they want but the actual developer that has a crap ton of people building the game dont do shit. They never add what the players want. That or they add something that ruins their games. Like the need for speed, the fact they added a health system to an arcade racing game was a stupid decision. Like for hot persute and rivals, it made sense. But at least when you got hit, you don't lose half your health in on small tap to your car.

Uhh you could lol in NFS Rivals being hit at high speeds + electrostatic field = almost instant death 💀 Besides, having a healthbar is realistic because of the damage model. But yeah I agree having a healthbar may be getting a little stale. An NFS game made soully on fighting against other Racers and Cops are fair enough, but maybe modern NFS should revoke a car healthbar for when you're racing and also make the crash cams more consistent so the punishment from crashing at such high speeds by traffic seems more justified. That'd be good.

The actual ai cops in that game are exactly like unbound and are an absolute joke when it comes to chasing you and as for facing players cops they couldn't even keep up with me and I was driving the slowest car possible. But yeah, I see where you're coming from. Some of the abilities in that game were a bit bullshit. That's why rivals and hot persute are just bearly above heat and unbound.

Oh and they are going to be adding what people want in the new Year 2 Roadmap for Need for Speed Unbound as they'll be adding NFS Underground inspired drag races and drift events (hopefully drift physics) coming in Volume. 7, and an NFS Hot Pursuit inspired Cops VS Racers are coming in Volume. 8. And Volume. 9 is anonymous at the moment. Oh and the communication they've been giving us recently has been undeniably impressive.

For me, the arcade racing should always be about how much fun you can have. The fewer limitation there is, the more fun. And health bar is a limitation that the game would be way better without it. If you disagree, think about the last time you encountered a road block in the game. Did you plow through a cop or brake and tip tow around them? Which is more fun? Aiming for a flimsy piece of fence and braking for the impact or T-boning a charger and sending it into low orbit?

hey bro, i’m a tester for unbound unite and you can thank me for the crazy cops, i really pushed for the devs to make the cops harder and they delivered big time. they’re a lot faster and have better reaction times etc. but even with all that they’re still dumb cus of unbound lol, much more fun chases tho. also if you keep the heat 5 chase going there’s a second phase when the corvettes come out and escaping bar doesn’t move
