The Dodge Challenger V8 engine swap for the Mitsubishi GTO is really Polyphony’s way of paying tribute to Dodge’s partnership with Mitsubishi years ago that includes the Dodge Stealth, a rebadged GTO.

With a widebody, stock wheels retain their width, even if you move them to fit better, but aftermarket wheels actually use wider rims/tires as standard. I don't know how much of a difference this makes for overall grip though, but I think it's factored in.

What I noticed about the Mazdas that have the 787b engine swap is the high amount of tire wear on the drivetrain wheels. What I assumed is that the 787b engine revs so quickly to its 9000 plus rpm redline limit, it burns up the tires, causing excessive tire wear. The fuel mileage is excellent though, being an endurance spec race car engine.

The Toyota 86 GRMN with the V8 swap from the Lexus SC430 GT500 is an absolute track monster. Over 800 horsepower fully upgraded, it accelerates to 200+mph very quickly. Plus, with the endurance fuel tank that’s included in the engine swap, the fuel mileage is excellent too.

I bought a couple of Mitsubishi GTOs in the used car dealership so I can do a couple of builds with the Challenger V8. There’s just something really cool about making a rally spec GTO with the Hemi V8.

If ya want the low rumbly sound shift to the last or second to last gear and floor it from a dig/low speed. It’s slow but you get that low rumble. Half throttle maybe. Basically just keep the rpm’s a lil lower
