HOPE NOT: is about how they feel they aren’t enough for the one they love. They hate themselves, and the hate they have on themselves makes it impossible to love. That’s why in the lyrics it says “be happier with someone else better than me” because they don’t want the person to continue being hurt because of the hate in themselves for which it makes it impossible to love them. it’s beautiful the more you listen. And this is them telling them, that you don’t need to stay with someone you're hurting, even if it means hurting yourself. Being alone is better than hurting someone who doesn’t deserve it. Hurting alone is better than hurting someone you truly love, that’s why it hurts to let go, especially if you can’t love yourself. TRUTH UNTOLD: is about how someone hides their feelings because they're afraid to show the real them, being afraid of rejection. It’s something everyone struggles with once in their life. That’s how love is, people hide their feelings because they're afraid of rejection. In a way, the lyrics combine to make this story: BTS are celebrities, which is why a) they have to wear masks to see BP, and b) they knew that the flower of love could never actually bloom, as in it wasn’t meant to be. BP is saying that BTS should focus on their careers and forget love, but hopefully not forget them entirely. BTS, through this, is saying “but I still want you,” and BP responds with “hope not.” It also lines up with the whole “don’t smile at me, light on me” line-if BP smiles at them while they’re in the public eye, they’ll get found out. But BP wants BTS to flourish, even if they’ll both be lonely. This obviously isn’t the original meaning of either song, but it’s fun to think of it like this.

I'll personify each group as if they're solo artists, just so this makes sense. BTS and BP are two people here. BTS was a poor underground rapper and dancer who signed with BigHit entertainment. His goal? Becoming a successful hip hop artist, supporting his loved ones, and living in comfort.. After years of hardship at debut--financial issues, plagiarism accusations, poor sales, and hate--he started dating BP, a trainee set to debut in a major company (YG). BP offered steadfast emotional support, keeping BTS strong through all of his difficulties. Unfortunately, the time came for BP to debut, as she'd finished her idol training. At first, it seemed as though they'd have to break up after BP's debut, but BP convinced BTS to _Stay_ with her (see what I did there?) and even gave him a *song tribute* to keep their relationship intact. They'd make it work, even with BP doing so well and getting a fair amount of attention. Then, the tables turned. BTS exploded in popularity, getting a global spotlight after his Wings album--a work he'd dedicated to BP. The two idols had so much media attention, people began to suspect things. The heads of each of their companies realized that the two couldn't keep on dating--it would hurt their popularity too much if people found out. So their managers made them break off all contact, even if they still loved each other. Now, there's only one way that they can communicate; they have to write songs, or rather, messages, to one another. These songs reflect the heartbreak in their story, with BP begging a reluctant BTS to move on. BTS even hinted at their relationship through the eras: LY Wonder/Her represented the happier days when they'd found love, and LY Tear was an allegory for their kind-of-breakup (when their companies forced them apart). Then, LY Answer had come, and BTS said that he'd be fine as long as he loved himself. But would he? Or was it all just another mask for the media? Would BP really be able to let go? Only time would tell, but BTS continued showing her his conflicted feelings with the songs, or rather, messages, _Don't Leave Me_ and _Let Go._ BP realized that after BTS came out with MOTS: Persona, an album reflecting on himself and his independence, BTS might have been ready to move on. But she hoped that, even if she had to let go, BTS wouldn't forget her entirely. She's watching BTS's career intently, noticing that his new album was labeled as "Part 1" on BigHit's website (which is actually true) and that the new album had no outro (also true). So does this mean that _love is not over_ for the two? BP hopes it's not, even if she can only spend _just one day_ with him, because the _Idol_ life is a cruel one. And that's the story of two star-crossed k-idols. BOOM. Are y'all happy now? 하하

My theory for this mashup, is that Blackpink were the girlfriends who weren’t committed, argued, hurt their boyfriends (bts). I’m guessing this is a breakup scene where Blackpink realizes all the wrong they did and want their boyfriends to end up with someone better. But they still wants bts to remember them at the same time. They still want bts to care for them,love them, but feel selfish because of their past. They feel like they don’t deserve Bts anymore, because Bts gave them their hearts, affection, passion, sympathy, while all Blackpink have them was pain, suffering, and cruelty. Bts doesn’t care about their mistakes and still wants Blackpink to remain with them, because they’re afraid of not being loved, and getting lonely again. I’m pretty sure this is completely off.
