I was just wondering, back then in the 2000s when budget for American MV was high, I remember Mariah Carey's Heartbraker was, if not, the most expensive MV ever made. This is the time of Michael Jackson, Backstreet Boys when pop music MV was just superb. I wonder how these compares with Blackpink HYLT because IMO it's probably on the same league with 2000 MVs

Yup, as has been said, they do it all with actual sets built specially for each vide - during the videos, you will often see parts of other sets in the backgrounds, which helps tie all the sets together for the entire M/V.
