You absolutely should have high expectations. With how big blackpink is and how long we wait for the comebacks, it's ok to not be satisfied with a "basic summer song". Maybe I don't understand the point of pre-release singles, but HYLT hyped me up for something even bigger, and now I feel like that WAS the comeback single, and this one - a collab for the sake of a collab afterthought. Don't get me wrong, the girls brought their best as always, but the lyrics are so ridiculously bad, there's no saving it. The rhymes sound like an 11yo wrote them. Blackpink deserve way better.

The lyrics might not be top tier, but this song is such a BOP and catchy from the first listen. I honestly think it's better than Dynamite. And it was such a good feature for Selena, she surprised me the most, since this is not really her sound, but it actually suits her quite well.

I'm sorry I'm negative about it, but their parts in collabs always feel a little repetitive (there's more yeah yeah uh-uh in sour candy, than actual words), and maybe it's ok for a pop song, it doesn't showcase their actual abilities and probably doesn't draw as many new fans in. Here it's an actual Blackpink song, they're not a feat for another artist, so I expected something more meaningful.

the song grew on me after a few listens. this was very simple, and also super short. so it definitely was a whole change for bp and esp for us blinks. i was expecting some sort of beat drop later but it never came. nontheless, after a few more listens it grew on me and now i like it. The visuals and aesthetic of the video was stunning as usual and the girls were all serving looks but the song just didn’t do it for me. It felt quite bland and repetitive and the chorus just felt like another verse. Plus I was confused with the lyrics since Ariana Grande was involved but they were really quite basic. Love the girls and they’re so talented but for something that had been built up all week it was a bit of a let down for me personally.

An opinion : The song's melody could have been stronger in the chorus. The lyrics weren't the best. Maybe it’s just me, but they could have done better. I get that the song is meant to be light-hearted and fun, but that isn’t an excuse for it to be so bland. You can make a chill song that actually has substance to it. I wish the lyrics were better, but I’m not too pressed because lyrics shouldn’t matter too much for a song like this. However, a reason why I had such high expectations was because this is a collaboration with a big Western artist, and multiple big artists including Ariana Grande worked on writing and producing for the song, so I don’t understand why it’s pretty bad for what it should be. I think I may just be a bit harsh because of how starved blinks have been, but a collaboration with such big names from two different sides of the world should probably be a lot better, even if it’s not meant to be an extremely meaningful or serious song. I’m probably gonna get attacked but that’s just my thoughts

can we PLEASE talk about the cutesy babyish childlike innocent aesthetic going on in the music video? The body language, the fact that they ride TRICYCLES with training wheels, playing in bouncy castles, playgrounds, toy cars, a nursery room set, like I can go on. theres something so predatory about making women act innocent and childlike while singing sexual lyrics and I don't know why the fuck society loves it so much. Society really loves sexualising innocence and purity when it comes to women and sex. Its even worse that they are asian because us asian women are already a target of that submissive innocent asian girl fetish. Poor blackpink. I mean, I dont have ANY problem with women singing about sex, after all they are adult women and they can sing suggestive lyrics if they want to! however, its weird and predatory when you mix sexual lyrics with babyish childlike imagery and a forced childlike behaviour

In my opinion this Black Pink doesn't seem like the Kill this love and DDU-DDU DDU-DDU Black Pink. I didn't like HYLT so much even though I can't stop saying "How you like that" but this song is just...uhhh NOT YOUR USUAL BLACK PINK SWAG MIXED WITH GORGEOUSNESS AND CUTENESS ( courtesy COVID-19 ). It seems like they did this song just for "let's release a new collab" sake. I love the video tho. Selena as Keisha said was looking 😘. The girls looked so cute and costumes where cute as well but I didn't like the green hair Lisa had on but she still slayed it better than most people would. I expected Jisoo to get more lines but I guess we're back to square one with Jisoo not singing enough lines or maybe she had a hard time learning the lines in English (I think English isn't among the languages she's really good at but I think she's learning it now). She looked smashing tho. As for Jennie, Lisa and Rosé I absolutely dig everything from them. They all looked cute ❤️. Altogether my ratings are; Video - 8 Song - 5 Clothes - 10 (I loved the sweaters, I might use something similar in one of my band's future music videos). Thanks for this reaction Keisha ❤️

Yeah same, I was feeling the visuals more than the actual song. In kpop I’m more of like an innocent child (im not btw) I like listening to kpop bc it’s not like the other music these days that are sexual (don’t get me wrong I know that there are songs in kpop who are sexual and songs in normal pop who aren’t, I just prefer the sound of Korean and the visuals and the quality, which is lacking sometimes in pop) so yeah like I was saying kpop is more like my safe place and whenever I come across a song like this one it just shocks the hell out of me. The lyrics like most of BP lyrics are weak and the rap part slaps but I’m not feeling the meaning or why the “Mona lisa kinda Lisa” like it has nothing to do with the song, Lisa delivered it awesomely but the lyrics weak. Oh Keisha you should react to TXT~tomorrow by together~ they are a group that debuted last year and for real they are Monster Rookies, all of the boys are so talented and gorgeous. Their concepts are awesome and original. I honestly like this song better than hylt. Its so cute and simple yet catchy and looks like the girls were just chilling and having so much fun. I think we have really high expectations from BP bcoz of which a simple chill summer song might sound disappointing after awaiting for their comeback. I don't think every song made by an artist needs to be excellent or amazing. There are so many songs by Ariana, Lady gaga and Selena but i vibe to just a few of them. Its just how music works.
