You guys had questions, i have answers :) - Why the comments are always “don’t compare x and y” - Why kpop views are so high 1: The reason some fans from both sides get really heated when it comes to these major Kpop artists is because of the toxicity in the Kpop community. Because BTS and BLACKPINK have such big fandoms, they have a lot of fans that are competitive. They are (arguably) the biggest boy and girl Korean acts, so they are in a constant war of being the “best”, which was something set by the “fans” of these two groups. When people ask about who they prefer, toxic stans will defend their favs as much as they can. This type of stuff leads to unnecessary fighting between fandoms so it is best to just not compare them. This thing of comparing isn’t really liked by anyone in the k-stan community unless it is positive to both sides (meaning no “prefer/is better/etc). Kpop groups even from the same companies have fandoms that don’t like comparisons because they believe (and they’re right,) that every artist is their own person and should not be compared to someone else. Of course this DOES NOT apply to all people of the fandoms, as there have been many nice interactions between both fandoms and there are stans who are mature enough to get along with each other. 2: The reason Kpop artists usually have “more views” than American artists is because of the fandoms again. Kpop fandoms are notorious for focusing on streaming records. They plan when to break records, how to break them, and distribute this information on social media apps (best example: Twitter). Take for example BTS’s fandom, ARMY’s. They planned on social media to stream their song “Dynamite” to try to get 100M views, breaking a world record, and they did. They got 101M in the first 24 hours. These records not only are to show the power the fandoms have, but to boost their artists. Because views are so important now in Kpop, if a group does not have many views there will be a difference in how they are viewed. Not to mention that when these records are broken, it adds onto the achievements these groups have. Making them have a better rep in the community, therefore boosting them to a bigger audience. In It’s all about fandoms and their love for their artists really. +And about comparing their fame to western artists, this ties back to what I said about fandoms and comparing artists :D -But if you need a little comparison for you to get an idea of how big these idols are I’ll give one. BTS’s world tour made almost as much revenue as the Pyeongchang 2018 olympics) Anyways I hope this was helpful to you guys!!

There are toxic fans who always try to say who is better than who, and that's what we don't like. Some people only like BTS and some only like BLACKPINK, but most people mess with both of them, so it gets sensitive when people try to compare both, like they're two different groups and should both be appreciated instead of compared. They respect each other, so the fandoms should respect the other too. We can love more than one group, that's why I'm a multi stan, there are so many more groups in Kpop that are fire and have music that you might like better than BTS and Blackpink, or you can also react to K-hiphop, it's a whole other scene, and it's fire.

Asia is just huge as hell and BlackPink had that region on lock on top of being the number 1 kpop girl group in America and arguably the number 1 in the world. Also hardcore kpop fans have known BlackPink since they were called pink punk. Jennie was in the music video for that xx by G-Dragon in 2012. Y'all should check out there predebut stuff. Watching kpop groups go from trainees to fully fledged idol singers/rappers is the same as watching your favorite rapper go from the underground all the way to the mainstream. So If I had to compare think of it as watching lil Durk go from his Chicago drill days to his mainstream success. Alot of us fans watched BlackPink switch their name and lineup and members until their final debut and it's all pretty much similar just different cultures and ways of expressing yourself and music.
