Blackpink is currently the biggest girl group. Not just in kpop but in music in general. They are a South Koreon girl group but not all the members are ethnically Koreon or born in Korea There are 4 members. All of them can sing and 2 of them can rap (the 2 that rapped in the video). In kpop there are roles called main and lead. Main meaning best and lead meaning 2nd best. So if you are main vocalist you are the best vocalist but if you are lead vocalist you are 2nd best. Jennie (girl who was in the red costume at the start) She is the main rapper and lead vocalist. She was born in South Korea but she studied in New Zealand for 5 years. From the age of 10 to about 15. So she is fluent in English. She has a kiwi accent lol. In terms of real life personality she is known to be the most savage in the group. She is not afraid to say or show how she feels. She is also very cute and sweet though. She was the 1st one in the group to go solo. She has a solo song called "Solo". Easy way to identify her is she has a very baby face and cat eyes Lisa (the other rapper who was in the celine hat) She is main dancer and lead rapper. She was born in Thailand and she is the only members who is not ethnically Koreon. She is 100 percent Thai. In terms of real life she is known to be the most affectionate one and she really adored her members. She has 2 solo songs called "Lalisa" and "Money" If you ever see someone with bangs it's Lisa Rosé - (the girl that played the guiter) She main vocalist and lead dancer. She is ethnically Koreon but she was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia. So English is therefore her 1st language. She has a nice Aussie accent lol. In terms of real life personality she is probably the shyest and most akward in the group lol. It's seen alot in interviews or especially when among other kpop idols. She has 2 solo songs "On the ground" and "Gone" Jisoo (the very first girl seen at the start of the song who played the instrument) She is main visual lead vocalist. Visual means the person in the group who fits the mist Koreon beauty standards. She is the oldest in the group and was born and raised in South Korea. She is the only members in the group who is not fluent in English. But she is learning. In english interviews Jennie often translates fpr her what the person is saying. Unfortunately she is the only one in the group who has not gotten a solo but she is a phonemal actress. She had a main role in the Kdrama "Snowdrop". In terms of resl life personality she is known to be the strongest in the group and the mother of the group. She is known to be the one that never cries eveb when the other 3 are Their producer Teddy Park said that for the many years that he knows Jisoo he only ever saw her cry once. No other *kpop group* paid this amount of homage to Black Hip Hop artists and Black girl groups. From biggie's kick in the door to riri's pon to the 90's black girl groups Aesthetics, choreo and anti-drop chorus sound to the boom bap triple speed clutch in a double speed cadence to the english bars that are legit. They stayed true to the Genres they were portraying while adding their own Rock and roll women empowerment spice. A Pre-Release giving Homage to their Inspirations as a FIRST STEP for their Second Album. The first to many. Also... Straight to your dome... Dome arenas... A concert near you held in a dome arena. well, your first statement isn't exactly true, I've yet to see a group pay as much homage to black hiphop artists (and hiphop in general) as BTS does. And they write their own lyrics/help produce their own songs, so it's actual homage from themselves. Their rappers are huge hiphop heads with a vast knowledge of hiphop. In the BTS song Hip Hop Lover, they pay homage to some of their hiphop inspirations, including a lot of old school ones. In that one song alone, they reference: Tupac, Biggie, Jay-Z, Gang Starr, Black Star, Eric B, Rakim, Pete Rock, CL Smooth, Illmatic (Nas's album), Doggystyle (Snoop's album), In My Mind (Pharrell's album), KRS-One, Ready To Die (Biggie's album), The Chronic and 2001 (Dr. Dre's albums), Eminem, J. Cole and his album Cole World, Mac Miller, Kanye, Kendrick, ASAP. Their song Born Singer is their own rendition of Born Sinner by J. Cole, they sample the beat. Paying homage to J. Cole. Their rapper J-Hope paid $2.7 million to the original artist to re-make the popular 2000s Harlem hiphop song Chicken Noodle Soup by Webstar and Young B. And released his re-make as a free song, just to pay homage to his own hiphop dancing roots (cause CNS was one of the first songs he danced to when he started learning hiphop dancing as a kid). He even spent more money to film a music vid and flew out to L.A. to film it. All for a free song. J-Hope also got cleared to sample Wutang Clan's ODB song Shimmy Ya for his song What If on his new album. Their rapper RM samples from multiple rappers/hiphop artists for some of his mixtape songs. Like Oh My Darling by Run The Jewels for his song Joke. Grown Simba by J. Cole for his song Monster. God's Gift by J. Cole for his mixtape song God Rap. BTS also pay homage to black funk/blues singers: The BTS song Am I Wrong samples from Am I Wrong by american blues singer Keb Mo. Their rapper Agust D samples from Its A Mans Mans World by James Brown for his mixtape song Agust D. These are the ones I could think of off the top of my head, there's a lot more that I'm probably missing. In terms of old school boom bap sounds, they got a ton of songs like that, especially a lot of their older tracks. And J-Hope's new album is pretty much all old-school hiphop sounding songs. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've seen, no other group has paid as much homage to hiphop as BTS. The amount of hiphop references and homage they give is staggering.

i didn't say that they're the only one. I said NO OTHER PAID THIS AMOUNT OF HOMAGE. The amount... and not to specific hip hop artist but to the CULTURE. And the fact that it's not only hip-hop but *BLACK GIRLGROUP* homages as well. That Chorus Anti-Drop is a standard like for TLC, Destiny's child, Blaque, Jade, En Vogue... And those outfits and aesthetics are straight out of the Black 90's Girlgroup aesthetics. Including the Jarring shots that people kept talking about. Straight out of those kinds of music videos. Because that 1st chorus final Ah'ah's had a Vinyl scratch connecting it to the BOOM BAP that was about to come. I'd like to add that the "middle eastern/indian sound" that people kept talking about... Is STRAIGHT OUT OF BLACK GIRLGROUPS AND RAPPER'S SIGNATURES Remember candy Shop? Those kinds of musicality added to increase the tone of rapping and flow. It just goes to show that those who have experienced the CULTURE that BLACKPINK is paying SO MUCH Homage to can appreciate this immensely. Unlike the Baby Kpop twitter opinion kids that has never dived into that genre who got spoiled if mediocre every 3 months "comeback" if their favourite idols that has shallow lyrics and adds ENGLISH LYRICS that they BARELY CAN PRONOUNCE and even understood the gravity of said english lyrics and couldn't convey that throughout their music. KPOP since 2000's has always tried to dive into the western Popular Media. Copying whatever boybands, boy groups, girl groups were doing. Different influences yet the strongest ones was Pop and Hip-hop. Yet only ONE group broke that glass ceiling and RAN THAT GAME IN HIGH HEELS. And the fact that they kept getting compared to their "male counterpart" is insulting when BLACKPINK was the one who paved the way TO that western genre for having 75% Fluent English Speakers with a KoreanAmerican Producer on their back and Black Rock and Roll Band behind them. This amount of Homage released on 49th HipHop Month should speak volumes on the kind of Levels where Blackpink are. "Love To Hate Me" song exist for a reason and if y'all couldn't come through with the support... Jennie said sit down, eat your popcorn and dont even think on getting involved. Cus' they're going run through your Male Centric BS.

Then your statement simply isn't true anymore, BP is far from the group that paid the most amount of homage to black hiphop artists or hiphop genre/culture. That's the part of your statement I was addressing. 3. I didn't misunderstand your statement, I know you didn't say "the only group". You said Blackpink paid the most AMOUNT of hiphop homage out of ALL kpop groups. Again, that's just not a true statement. If we are talking about AMOUNT out of ALL kpop groups, BTS far exceeds Blackpink. Let's talk about AMOUNT: - Production: BTS used boom bap and old-school hiphop production sounds in countless songs, like too many to list out. Like entire songs, not just sections. And much of it was produced by themselves. Blackpink used boom bap in 1 section of 1 song, produced by Teddy. - Lyrical references: I listed off more than like 30 hiphop references in several BTS songs, that they wrote the lyrics to themselves. Blackpink made 3-4 hiphop references in one song, that was written by other songwriters. - Aesthetic/culture: In BTS early years, their outfits, music vids, and aesthetic were all old school hiphop, cause they were originally a hiphop group. Blackpink has 1 scene in 1 music vid throwing back to old school hiphop. The BTS rappers have even put on rap performances exactly like old-school hiphop rap battles, like old school Emcees. With a DJ on stage. You don't get more "old school hiphop aesthetic" than that. To say that Blackpink is the KPOP GROUP that pays the most AMOUNT of homage to hiphop culture, artists, aesthetic, etc. is clearly not true. They did it in one song. BTS has done it in countless songs and performances. There is no comparison for amount or degree of general hiphop homage, BTS far exceeds Blackpink. If you had said Blackpink paid the most homage to black female hiphop artists, then that's fine. But you didn't say that. BTS has 2 rappers who were former underground rappers, they are experienced battle rappers who have a vast knowledge of hiphop, including the culture. BTS was even sent to L.A. specifically for hiphop training and were tutored by hiphop artists like Coolio, Tony Jones and Warren G. BTS has many entire songs that can be classified as strictly rap and hiphop. BTS was heavy on the hiphop scene and culture well before Blackpink debuted. The amount of hiphop references and homage they pay is staggering. The degree to which they pay homage is also staggering - how many artists are willing to pay millions of dollars to re-make a hiphop song, just to pay homage? And then release their re-make as a free song? Not to mention, each of the 3 rappers in BTS have written/produced their own rap solo mixtapes, and one has made a rap solo album. The amount of hiphop homage and references in their solo work alone is a lot. I support Blackpink, it is possible to like multiple artists and groups you know. I LOVED the hiphop homage they did in Pink Venom, it was the highlight of the song. But I don't support misinformation or untrue statements. And your statement AS A WHOLE is simply untrue. I am well-informed about the background and discography of the groups and artists I talk about. Your statement all together as a whole is simply not true, and I pointed out the parts where. This is why the Blink fandom is called toxic, you can't even correct an untrue statement without being called a hater. If you go around saying untrue statements, there is nothing wrong with correcting you. Please be rational. It seems you're not well-informed about the background and discography of BTS, then you shouldn't be going around making blanket statements like that.
