This is their best title track, maybe I'm overwhelmed at the moment, but I feel like it's up there. The sample combined with the hip-hop beat is killer. Their performance is A+, as always, and the video is a nice callback to their old hit while making it clear that they are shutting down on those eras and moving forward. Overall, it's a banger💯

It’s funny how people who really liked Pink Venom don’t like Shut Down that much and vice versa hahaha. I’m really glad for Shut Down! I loved watching the mv, the raps and the amount of focus on each member. But I really do like Pink Venom better… I feel like PV has a bit of everything that I like in a song, really showing the concept of BlackPink.. meanwhile on Shut Down it’s mostly the same beat throughout the whole music and the same vibe… but it’s all about personal taste. Both are great.

The full name is Violin Concerto No2 in B Minor , 3rd Movement "Rondo à la clochette". It got its "La Campanella" nickname from Liszt's Etude S.140 No3 "La Campanella" which uses the 3rd movement as its main theme. Also Strauss used the theme for one of his waltzes (Op.11). As a violin player, the full Concerto is one of the hardest pieces to play. Paganini was a violin player as well as a composer so he knew exactly what he wished to achieve. His music for violin and guitar is astounding.

So the story of the music video is that they are in like a storage warehouse of their music, the reason for all the callbacks. Jennie and Lisa are physically shutting down the doors to them, putting them behind. They shut the lights off and go to the elevator and go up to the next level to a whole new floor of storage units that haven't been opened yet. In short, Blackpink has ascended to a new level.

I 1000% understand why you guys would prefer shut down on VMA instead of PV. In all honesty, shut down is a diss/big statement song. Preforming this on first stage in America would be considered cocky. Especially with big names there. Also from what I can tell YG and blackpink carefully planned this out.
