Yes same as me & the wife we often went in there in the 70s & 80s walked around in there played the arcades went in the bars for a few beers & food but never went on any rides. So now you have to pay just to walk around there's no point.

The wife and I used to enjoy walking around the pleasure beach but we're to old to be going on most of the rides but we no longer go up that end as there is no point as we see no reason to pay just to walk round. So now when we come to Blackpool we spend our time around the golden mile and town centre. The parking charges are getting out of hand so it's cheaper to park away from the car parks and use the trams to get where you want

I agree with you 100% It was way better before now it's just for the rich, especially with those parking fee's wow. I used to enjoy just walking through spend a few pound in the arcade and then out if you not going on any rides they have lost those people because whos going to pay just to walk through not many.

They’ve dropped the ‘Blackpool’ from their name which I think is a lot of the uproar along with the colour. They’re now just known as ‘pleasure beach resort’ n as people say if you live further down the country n u Google ‘pleasure beach’ it’s going to come up with Great Yarmouth n Skegness (I think)

Originally called the South Shore Pleasure Beach it was "A ramshackle, disreputable place, highly unpopular with the local residents". W G Bean and J W Outhwaite wanted to create an American-style Amusement Park and so bought 40 acres of the sands nearest the beach and built, among other attractions, a bicycle railway and a steam driven roundabout. It wasn't until the 1906 season that they officially christened the fairground as the "Pleasure Beach".

I know first hand how hard it is to change a logo and agree that the first one looked like Ikea 😂 I think that in order to expand and build ride like Icon, unfortunately, the money needs to come from somewhere. People are not happy because there have removed the word Blackpool from there name so its just (plesure beach resort). There is other places in the UK with the same name including in Skegness don't think people are bothered about the word resort its the removal of Blackpool.

They got hammered on facebook because of the fact that Blackpool is the resort & the Pleasure Beach is the amusement park attached to the town. So, shouldn't have drooped Blackpool from its logo & definitely can't call itself a resort & that's why people have had a pop at them 😂😊

I think that I have read that Alton Towers does have a hotel but I have never actually been there so can't say for sure.If the rain doesn't stop we'll have to have bog snorkeling resorts!

In the past they changed the name from 'Blackpool Pleasure Beach' to 'Pleasure Beach Blackpool'. Seems they've been distancing themselves for a while now. As an ex-season ticket holder, I feel it's certainly losing it's lustre. Parking on the park itself was around £18, with no discounted or free parking for season ticket holders either. I don't think Geoffrey Thompson would be happy with the Pleasure Beach as it is nowadays....

Re the pleasure beach according to Google it is visited by six million people a year. Blackpool gets 19 million visitors a year which means 13 million dont visit it. Lol.

Great video of the sea always look good. I think the name should have stayed the same doesn't make a great difference really only like you said it will cost a bit and I think that cost will get pushed onto the public more than likely added to the entrance fee. It used to be like a family pleasure beach but now it's getting to be only for the elite who have plenty of money who can afford those parking charges and admission fee's. It was way better before all this entrance fee's they are just copying everybody else.
