Blackpool - Biggest Hotels & Festival on the Promenade

Come and join me on a journey visiting some of the most grand hotels in Blackpool on a evening walk, also we have the Indian Festival in Blackpool.

They are the most well-known, the ones people search for to book a holiday and those which have survived the test of time - including some which span more than two centuries.
They are nine of Blackpool and the Fylde’s oldest places to stay and some have been around since the 1700s. Did you know that the Metropole Hotel is the only seaward side hotel in Blackpool? Or that the Norbreck Castle Hotel started out as a place for lavish, private parties? The pictures are contrasted with scenes from how they look today. They have incredible histories and still have pride of place in our resort.
1. Blackpool's Oldest Hotels
The Cliffs Hotel in North Shore was built in 1921 and stands proudly, as it name suggests, on Blackpool's cliffs at Gynn Square.
The Savoy Hotel North of Gynn Square, the terracotta hotel was build around the turn of the 20th Century and the architect was T.G. Lumb. It opened in 1915 and the hotel's sun lounge, in Hathern's cream faience, was added in 1935 by Lumb and Walton.

Nice walk up at bispham, yes the Highlands pub is a belter, we use it a lot when up there, nice mix of locals and holiday makers. We're up there for a week from the 20th, hope the weather picks up, ha ha. Great post, thanks mate.

10.35 in Video I remember in the 90's a guy Lost thousands gambling at the casino he was a hgv driver, it was in the Gazette at the time, After he got thrown out he came back with his truck smashed the entrance wall and wrecked cars in the car park leaving a trail of destruction I believe he got sent down for it. There were some lovely b&b's behind ma kelly in the eighties and nineties. I remember staying at a few of them with my parents, hopefully they are still there going strong. These videos bring back some great memories for me. 😊

Good video Paul and the Indian bash looked very good. Re the hotels, my wife and family once stayed at the Imperial which was fantastic and we had a sea view. There is a plaque inside saying Charles Dickens stayed there in 1869. Well done.

Hi Paul, I think the major costs are involved in the Art Deco front facia bricks. Many more are damaged than first realised. So ooops significant cost increases.😳
