I love these type of swords. Its no wonder these short saber like slashing swords were so popular with sailors in history. Very good for fighting in cramped close quarters combat. Also its so compact if you had to wear one wouldnt get in your way much while working on ship although i think usually ships had weapons on racks, and sailors didnt usually wear them while working. Short slashing or chopping blades are popular throughout history for reason though

Damn! I think I want you to make me a 1845 British Naval Cutlass replica. My favorite sword. You certainly have the skills and the historical knowledge.

I have done these myself but usually mine are more the ''hanger sword'' style than being outright cutlasses. Nice work and I really love the raised back edge. Allways loved swords that have them.

The problem with such cutlasses (according to Matt from scholagladiatora for example) is that a hilt like this wasn't there in the Golden Age of Piracy (1650-1730) for it was typical for navies in XIX century.

Right, I thought I said something along those lines in the video. Part of the inital parameters of the build was that it was for a customer who had two other Dguards I had made, and he was looking for aesthetic cohesion between all three.

Looks like you about done yourself, I mean don't get me wrong, it looks like you did a hell of a job with the other swords that you made, however I will admit this one looks like your best work does far
