simple as this tealight candle holder is it has a beauty about it thats some how so different and appealing than most other tealight candle holders. added to that you have given it a refined quality a lot of iron work misses. maybe its just the magic of candle light but i kind of feel you have added some sort of magic to this job.

Started smiling after you punched the cavity for the candle with the power hammer. There you could actually see how hard the hammer hits. Couple smacks and there it is. There's no way that anyone could hit that hard even with a heavy..ish sledgehammer. Nice video once again Torbjörn!

Torbjorn, thanks for your video! I am very impressed with the level of detail you put into your videos and I hope you can continue doing so. I'm very new to blacksmithing and from your video I was able to make a few (10 so far) of these for Christmas gifts. For those that wondered if you can do it by hand (I don't have a power hammer), the answer is yes. That said the first attempt it took several heats (I lost count after 5 or 6). So I made a guillotine that held the die and ring with a guide where to hold the plate so I was consistent (although it was slightly off). In any case with that I could do it in 2 heats. So not to bad, but no power hammer. :) Oh and I haven't torn one yet, but that'll probably change now that I said that. :)

Thanks!! Great to hear that. Merry Christmas.

Thank you for your videos; great to watch, and I love the specific tools you make for a project. I was wondering about your process of design? From rough idea, all the way to knowing exactly what you are going to make, and more interestingly how. even down to choosing stock etc.
@torbjornahman8 жыл бұрын
+bryan watkins Thank you! That's an interesting question. I'm not sure I can give a good answer to that. Often I get inspired by something I have seen elsewhere. Then from the idea I often check what stock I have and from there work out the steps I need to take to reach the goal. Experimentation with certain techniques can sometimes lead to unexpected design ideas. It's a mystery how our brains work really.
@bryanwatkins92358 жыл бұрын
+Torbjörn Åhman Hah, yeah I guess it's a pretty organic process, not something that can really be answered easily like that. There is no substitute for personal experience, getting a feel for what can be done before applying it to something you want to do. Still, thank you for your reply, some interesting insight
