One thing I appreciate about your channel is the fact that you share the imperfections as well. Inspires the wannabe up and coming guy that is intimidated by too much perfection. lol Thanks for all you do

Nice work. Some day I need to gets busy and do a video. I made a combination ground quiver and bow rest for the kids a couple years ago. Works like a charm. Your video reminded me of it. Several more bends, but I bet I could sell them at SCA events for a nice piece of change

You could weld a bunch of those together and make a glass holder for a kitchen. It could be designed to stand on a counter top or could be to hang from a ceiling.

Here's an idea Chandler, make a second leaf/feather, forge weld it below the 90 and flair it out to be a base to put a beer/pop can in and still have it handy.

Man you find all the anvils! I am looking for an anvil myself, can you tell me where you look for them? Thanks

you could make a similar piece with a shorter bar and a hook on the end and a larger circle for hanging flower pots

you'd probably have to put an additional spike on the bottom to help support the extra weight though

+MrBubba1876 what I'm thinking would be hanging from a ceiling, not stuck in the ground

Would not rairsing the main anvil be better for your back aas well as hammer contact on the metal being shaped.?
@-Honeybee
@-Honeybee 8 жыл бұрын
The main anvil is actually raised to an ideal height, being at the smith's knuckles. This allows for a full hammer swing with the natural swing and arch of the back.

+Sitric Brave I would have placed it higher to lad a deaed blow style hit or he hits with a cary threw hit sow the blow hits the steel and still has movement down.

Make an accompanying wine bottle holder. Those can be all manner of ornamental or very simple.

2 videos in 1 day we are blessed today. keep it up chandler I'm learning but yet to put it all into practice. I got maybe 25 cast iron cats eyes I will be making use of would you suggest carbourising them into steel or work with them as is?
@jonblais6225
@jonblais6225 8 жыл бұрын
it's cast iron right? if so you wouldn't increase the carbon you would reduce. not 100% sure but cast iron is made by increasing the carbon count to what I think is 6% , which is what makes it brittle.

Ahhh I thought it was other way round. If it's how you believe it to be how would one decrease content? Im Sure there is a plethora of youtubes on the subject so I'll get digging

+reggy .bo I'm pretty sure Japanese sword smith's started with a type of iron that had way to much carbon and brought the carbon count down, not sure exactly how but they could have simply burnt it off while forge weilding. again not sure about that. I know they folded the steel so much to remove impurities.
@reggy698

I remember watching a video on what's called wootz steel made from iron think you basically smelt the hell out of it until it's a blob of none descript metal then fold away making patterns similar to Damascus. Again il have to remember watch some stuff. Thanks for the help and the memory jogs iv had them sat there ages thinking how am I going to ADD carbon to theses lmao just as well I didn't else I'd have fossilised metal shard knifes
