I could remember the Woolwich Road roundabout having these directional signs which were the chevrons between the 2 arrows back in the year.

There was always, at that time, a sickly sweet fermenting smell from a factory on the left before the tunnel entrance.

Been through the tunnel a few times , at rush hour , sandwiched between lorries and riding a lambretta . It's a scary place .

When Docklands had atmosphere...before D.L.R. and other hateful modern buildings defaced the area. When Downtown (Riffel road still existed, like something out of Mad Max) Anyone remember that? When curious one-off cafes existed, when the east and south east of London was a journey of (re)discovery and Surrey Quays station was called Surrey Docks. I hate progress,if indeed this is progress. Oh, and Routemasters ruled the roads...
