The trouble started with Blackwater when they basically got every defense contract they bid on. Originally, they hired only spec ops guys. SEALS, Delta, Rangers. They started getting greedy. They had more contracts than they had guys to fill the spots so they started hiring guys that where regular Army or Marines that their only experience was that they had had multiple tours. A lot of them where undisciplined cowboys.

@commentsandlikes95093 жыл бұрын
@@bellmeisterful bruh, the way wrongfully-convicted inmates walk out of prison, is through a re-trial with a new jury, new judge and new evidence. These four blackwater guards were convicted by a jury of their peers in a public, fair, scrutinized trial. They now walk free because of a presidential pardon that doesn't offer any new reason or evidence why their killing 14 civilians were justified. 12 American men and women listened to relevant evidence and testimony in a court of law and found BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT that these four blackwater guards were guilty. And now I am supposed to PUT ASIDE the jury's verdict, and instead believe Eric Prince, who has a personal motive to lie about the case?

People saying he was thrown under the bus but blackwater is able to operate in a special legal grey zone where they cannot be prosecuted by civilian or military court.. doesn't sound like being thrown under the bus to me
@aleksilepisto72825 жыл бұрын
Thats not true. They can be prosecuted. The agreement they signed specifically addresses this. It simply says they cant be prosecuted by the local governemnt. IE, they couldnt be prosecuted by Iraqi courts when in Iraq. Theyre subject to the US military and US courts. It's detailed specifically in his book with quotes from the contract with the state department. It's a total myth that contractors are in a special gray area and outside of the law. They're just protected so that they can't be prosecuted as war criminals by local jurisdictions, just like the military.
@BostonsF1nest5 жыл бұрын
Lol they operate under the same guidelines as anyone enlisted in any branch of the US Military- it’s called the UCMJ or Universal Code of Military Justice... every PMC contracted by the United States is held accountable for their actions just like any other enlisted soldier... the only difference is when ppl hear “private military” they automatically assume rules don’t apply to them. The only reason you’ve heard so much about Blackwaters mistakes in the news is because they were used as a scapegoat for many of the problems the United States ran into over here including innocent civilian deaths. Don’t just assume PMC’s are the only ppl accidentally killing civilians- it happens everyday over there, it’s just swept under the rug because the government would rather protect their own ass and point the finger at someone else.
@williampayton95155 жыл бұрын
When they first started, they were top notch. They took on convoy and VIP escort that freed up regular troops to do normal military ops. Then it all went haywire. I'm neither for or against contractors like BW. So long as they abide by the rules of combat. Despite popular opinion, they are needed. The state department and even the active force no longer has enough troop strength for some tasks deemed outside of normal combat operations. Look at our embassies. They are "all" undermanned and under armed. So are ports of call around the world where smaller Naval assets park for maintenance. Just get them under the rule of law.

Back in the day, there was no such thing as military contractors, except for civilian support on military installations: laundry, commissary, mess hall, and a few other occupations. Get taxpayer money out of Blackwater.

There is too much money being used to support these private, for-profit mercenary corporations with kick-backs to politicians to keep them in place. It's moral for the Military to kill but immoral for a civilian to kill for said Military? Paid private militaries have been around for centuries including Privateers that helped stop British supply runs during the American Revolution and the Americans who went to China to fight the Japanese prior to the US becoming involved in WW2. Blackwater now is fighting against Piracy in Somalia, helping train Somalian forces and being private security for Cargo ships. Since 2011 there have been only one captured or hostaged ships.

The problem of any private military or law enforcement enterprise is that these ones are not really taking advantage from an fast and easily pacified conflict, but they need to keep things working well for them. “War profiteer” is not wrong in that context. Questionable is in general if private companies were suitable to “neutralize” human beings, also on behalf of jurisdiction. It’s not a good way at all, in my humble opinion.

Not requiring an answer my friend, but I think the French Foreign Legion should rent themselves out to other countries to help resolve dangerous situations and battles, like the Iraq situation. It would be a lot cheaper for everyone involved and there would be a lot more control of the soldier situation. I would like to know how you came up with Blackwater name? As Native American do you know and understand what that name represents?

Do you not understand how this works? The government needs to do things in a war they started that they can’t do, so they hire mercenaries. If it were Garda that picked up the contract you’d be saying the same thing about them. They’re just doing it to get paid, they didn’t start any of it

Erik is basically the reason why Somali pirates are no longer an issue anymore. Because of his actions thousands of people where released from their captivity. What have you accomplished? Besides being a "stoner gamer" of course.
