However artists in the industry & labels pay for their music to be played on the radio so they can spin it over & over until it brainwashes/"catches" you. Great breakdown. A couple of small things that might have been passed over. The ringmaster has a hypnotic Medallion. He is hypnotizing the crowd and maybe the artist to act foolish. The video has take on these topics by using a "circus show" and having a man control the whole act (denzel curry in the video). It's pretty obvious where this is going. Not only is it obvious but this video isn't anything special either to each is own. The black and white filter is a nice but rookie effect to showcase its effectiveness in the sense that this is jus and old and run down act to this point. The make up and crowd which has its whole meaning to its self and for which i do not want to make my own ideals on is quite lackluster and jus mediocre, but i digress. *YES* this songs has some what of an important message, but its nothing new and quite mediocre. The production as always trap flavored really doesn't save the fact of how bland the lyrics are in the song, but to mention, the hook is a banger for sure though nothing special or anything amazingly significant. None the less, this song would sound hard live. To conclude this song and video doesn't share w me anything new or glorified for the natter that lets me know of how important this song is. This song is whole and heart jus a middle finger or fuck you to what the industry has done to suck young and unpredictable potential. Ig this is a review now haha and a breif one, you dont need to be a rocket scientist to understand this video nor to depict why your statement of it being a masterpiece is way farfetched. Overall, meh (6/10). Hopefully this next project by denzel will truly be his mainstream breakout. Must add though, imperial and 13 are great projects by him.

Good explanation but I feel like you missed one more thing when you mention the title of the song “clout” basically means the attention you got. Or sum similar, like getting recognized. So I feel he’s making this song to explain the exploitation of killing yourself and being able to get clout for playing with peoples weak mental states. At least that’s what I thought when I first heard the title.

I think you nailed it, its also interesting how the line “I just wanna feel myself, you want me to kill myself” connects to the video, artists want to feel themselves, be confident jn themselves and who they are but are pressured into keeping an image of doing drugs and flexing and posing with guns and all that, that can literally get you killed, so since the fans see you that way you gotta keep doing those things which is only harming yourself, hence “you want me to kill myself”

I interpret this like he's saying a performer gets validation and love from their fans, and it gives them a high like a drug. They then realize its impossible to keep humans pleased but crave the validation. Especially when they feel like they have something to prove. This becomes a way that the fans gass up artists into their own demise. (TUPAC AND X IMO ARE GOOD EXAMPLES) The whole "bout that action" mentality targets the mentally tramatized and victimized, so to speak. Great analysis BTW.

@The Clorox Plug Not neccessarily music videos can be about whatever you want it to be but with the current destructive, unaware & misguided Cultural issues that we are facing where there's a lot of confusion messages are much needed. And I prefer it to cliche stuff however I do feel that the late 90's was the peak of music video budget's as ever since then it's got a lot more basic & restricted. Though with the mind of a bright-minded, creative, unique imaginative individual with a green screen anything is possible really as they can innovate, graphically render & do cool stuff to their heart's content as long as they have the determination, care & patience for it to be able to see it's completion.
