My mother-in-law was his 1st cousin and the stepmother to the husband of Elvis's double 1st cousin (Patsy). She would have parties in Memphis with Ace playing in her garage, and sometimes Elvis would come over to visit or drag her away to shop for real estate (typically a new friend he wanted to house near him and always at night). What an interesting life she had.

Ace Cannon's Daddy,, Johnny Cannon, lived just 10 miles from me for 20 years and was one of my best friends. I helped him to study and pass his Ham Radio License. He was often over at my house for information and help with fixing something. A sweet old man who was lonesome for his son who evidently was too busy to visit his daddy as often as he should have. At least, that's what Johnny would tell me. So I became kind of an alternate son and took Ace's place in Johnny's eyes. A sweeter man I've not known. 73 my friend!
