The way the voice keeps interrupting him to provoke an emotional response. Script and direction too fucking good.

Metroid24242 Very true, sadly that has always been the case for sci if films for a long time, films that have been pioneers of the genre such as mad max and blade runner itself have never had a large crowd at the box office but surely get recognition as masterpieces over time.

Man this is such a fucking smart screenplay. When the officer asks "Do you you dream about being interlinked?" It's the only time he doesn't repeat the word "interlinked" at the end of the question which is why K hesitates when repeating it. It leads you to believe the question was actually "Do you dream about being? Interlinked." to try and trick the replicant into stumbling.
@Desanion7 жыл бұрын
roloug95 I think it also has to do with making sure that he actually listens to the questions provided. A test like this can be cheated if you only focus on repeating the key words, especially if you've been taking it for an indeterminate amount of time and know what to expect from it, as is K's case here. Another thing in favor of this is the "Why don't you repeat that to me 3 times?" line the officer quickly says to the end of the test; if K had only been paying attention to repeating the key words, he'd have at least slightly screwed that one up.

What difference does it make if he says interlinked at the end of the sentence or not? K would still have to say interlinked whether it was in the sentence or after it and K isn't penalised for hesitating either.
@Desanion7 жыл бұрын
thatguywhoeatspancakes because there are several different keywords from the baseline poem he may be prompted to say, which might be different from the word at the end of the sentence proper. By failing to say a word at the end of the sentence, K realized he was actually supposed to say interlinked instead, thus warranting the slight pause. If he wasn't paying attention, he would have said interlinked immediately, which would have been off baseline.

I love how, for precaution, the baseline test is done in a 'cell'. They know how dangerous a rogue replicant can be, hence why the test is now administered by someone off-site. And the fact that Gosling wrote this scene blows my mind... Such a smart fuckin' movie & a perfect sequel.

A bit disturbing/annoying test of performance, but very plot lore-friendly in BR Universe. It's probably the same feeling to most of the first viewers of first BR in 1982 listening the questions of a "Voight-Kampff" test. I think this is one more of lots of "emotional" links between first and second movie.

Gox Munx Stelline was pronounced with an 'eye' and not an 'e', the Russian is probably Cityspeak, and the protein worms were created by Niander Wallace....think you're being a bit of a conspiracy theorist here...

Saw this film recently but I've still never seen the first one - can anyone just explain what's actually going on?
@wellfedartist85027 жыл бұрын
TheArcher101 since he is a replicant, the baseline is a post traumatic test to monitor if the replicant has any remorse, regret, feeling or trauma after killing other replicants. So its to keep him in check and make sure he doesn't go rogue or heywire. If he fails the baseline, then he is to be terminated. This is because in the original blade runner, nexus 8 and older models developed human feelings and attributes which made them incredibly dangerous.
@TheArcher1017 жыл бұрын
WellFedArtist Makes sense, what about the words though? Do they actually mean anything? Why is he told which ones to repeat back to the machine?
@wellfedartist85027 жыл бұрын
TheArcher101 the words his saying are from a poem called pale fire, the poem was chosen because it is provocative to replicants i guess, they are meant to trigger an emotional response.
