Another trick is to open up the fish's stomach to see what it's been eating. That will be a good indicator for what you can use for bait.

If it is catch and release fly fish, what I do. Use one of the plunger thingies that squeezes out the stomach content. But in a survival situation you'd end up eating the fish and you wouldn't have a plunger thingie.

I read many of the comments. I am not too surprised it turned a little snarky. The lure did look brand new, even if it wasn't and that helped to set them off I think. I have been through military survival schools and we had some of the gear from a survival kit or ejection seat kit. So we did have some nice gear to use and it was fun to learn. I had been a Boy Scout and the training rekindled my interest in primitive techniques like Native American, Eskimo and South American Natives for my primary studies. Maybe the use of paracord and a bone or stick gorge. Perhaps using spring powered branches with a trip line, a trot line. Making a fish net with paracord for seining or scooping minnows or tad poles. Just some ideas, not being critical. I liked your Indian Fish trap, these are used all over the world...successfully. I saw them daily in Vietnam. Thank you for your efforts. For you complainers and doubters, their are many ways to be stuck out from civilization and need to survive, cut these guys some slack and show us YOUR scenario please.

You've just showed just some of the reasons why it's so important for everybody to have a EDC knife on them all the time. Here, in the police state of Victoria in Australia, carrying any of the knives you showed can get you charged at the discretion of a magistrate. The citizens here aren't as pragmatic and freedom loving as in the USA. God bless America.

Great.... if im every in a situation where i happen to find brand new fishing lures, a mess of line, and a stream thats not obviously a popular fishing spot "cough" im all set to survive, throw that together with my "Indian" fish trap with gaps about small enough to admit a small shark... or salmon and im good to go! Lets not forget to put in some plugs for my low quality, "survival" items! Everything about this... was terrible, on every level. My favorite was the "fishing line para cord, exclusive to....blade HQ" ... what it should have scripted as was " Plastic stranded bits of low quality and lower tension strings wrapped in nylon Paracord nocoff." The Video needs to be renamed "Lets plug my channel and products, while in the woods".

Angry someone point out the truth ? The fish trap will fail no doubt, the fishing line part is so fake, as a angler, most fishing lines i find lying around are tangled up and in small sections of 1 or 2 m at most. A lure at that depth and brand new........... come on.
@TJackSurvival
@TJackSurvival 8 жыл бұрын
polo101101101101101 Or so you say. But really what would you know? LOL Just because you don't see behind the scenes when I spent 20 minutes untangling that stupid string doesn't mean it didn't happen. You've obviously never done this. So your opinion is invalid.
@polo101101101101101
@polo101101101101101 8 жыл бұрын
Ok, from what you said, you are telling me that there is no fraud in this video. The line started in the location, you untangled it , place it back, set the scene, and then you filmed this video. Right ? This is so fake, because you could have just filmed the tangled string in its state and fast forward the video to the state where it is shown untangled. You are right, I never had to untangle lines lying around , but I sometimes have to untangle my own lines, as I do pole fishing. This is because I BRING MY OWN FISHING LINE. So tell me why is my opinion invalid? Because you lied ? If you swear by your family and personal honour that there is no fraud in this video, but if you did that you and your family has no honour and would be cursed forever.If you dare to swear by this, I would believe you and apologies for saying that you faked the scene.

Loosing a lot of value there in the processing of the fish. 1 You can eat the head. The eyes contain fresh water and the brain contains essential fats, same as the liver. and 2. The row or fish eggs, are super nutritious. There is a reason you can grow a chicken from an egg. It contains all the minerals, proteins and vitamins for life.

They could have made this video helpful by teaching you things like how to make fishing line from stinging nettles. But instead we got “use your BladeHQ knife that you have to cut this BladeHQ cord. Oh look someone left a BladeHQ lure. This must be a popular fishing hole even though I just told you we’re in the wilderness. Is that a BladeHQ fish?”
@grimmreapo655

if you find lures, and fishing line on the bank of a river, you are no where near being lost, or in the wilderness. i go to places where I might be the first person to ever set foot there. I've been to lake that have never been fished, and trust me. when your up in Northern Canada these ''survival'' tips don't work. cuz you are NEVER going to find lures, and fishing line conveniently laid out for you in arms reach lol
@TJackSurvival
@TJackSurvival 8 жыл бұрын
Then use the Indian fish trap shown above. There is a reason that multiple options were shown on this video.
@grimmreapo655
@grimmreapo655 8 жыл бұрын
TJack Survival yea because fish swim right up to the bank, and into a ''trap'' I'm native. and we would never use something like that. it just wouldn't work. the chances of getting a fish big enough to get stuck in the branches,but small enough to swim right up to the bank is 0. the paracord part was spot on though.
@TJackSurvival
@TJackSurvival 8 жыл бұрын
Grimm Reapo You're not connected to your native history then. I've caught plenty of cat fish this way in Georgia. In Utah though it's illegal to fish this way so we had to remove the trap after we made it. It works on cat fish because they like the sense of security in the reeds. Also if you put some rotten chicken or worms or fish in it, you get a ton of fish. Here's a link to educate you. twentytwowords.com/how-to-make-an-ancient-but-now-illegal-fish-trap-out-of-sticks/ But simply googling this would have shown you all sorts or historical proof on how this works.
@grimmreapo655
@grimmreapo655 8 жыл бұрын
Yea that was a blanket statement on my part. I should have said that in my particular tribes geographic location and different ways of collecting food sources in Northern Canada this wouldn't work. but your right. in your area they would use it, and your right about the catfish. we wouldn't use it here, cuz we dont have fish that will come up to the bank for rotten chicken. although we did do something similar. we created a woven stick wall, and made a v shape in a stream or creek. the tip of the v had a 6-8 foot long woven basket. we'd form a line up stream and use sticks to splash the water, and make the fish flee down stream. the v would funnel them right into the basket. so yea, sorry for the blanket statement. not all tribes do the exact same thing.
@TJackSurvival
@TJackSurvival 8 жыл бұрын
+Grimm Reapo if you're on the coast then your ancestors probably used ocean gardens as well. They essentially use low tide walls that trap fish in a pool. But they take a very long time to build.

+Hans Wurscht so if I drop you on a desert island full of trash and nets, you're telling me that you don't need survival skills like this? You didn't think that through before it fell out of your mouth did you.

if you are in a survival situation look for a fully cooked steak on the ground hunters often discard their dinner when it gets caught on a branch and that's a good way to get a meal. oh don't forget to show off your sponsors knife while you eat it.

So your idea for survival fishing is to stand in a cold river loosing body heat and flogging away at an incredibly inefficient means of catching fish? Survival fishing means one thing - set lines. Bait them. Set them. Go do something else to maximise your chances of survival/rescue. Come back to your lines to re-bait and remove any fish caught. Do not throw away the head and the guts because they are edible - you might want to open and wash out the stomach but you need every calorie you can find unless you have a surplus. Small circle hooks are the way to go - fish will generally hook themselves without a strike and they get hooked in the lip so you can reuse the hooks without digging them out of the fishes guts.

It was stupid hot that day and I caught three fish in about half an hour. We filmed this whole video before noon. So let's say it was a real survival situation. I would have had an Indian fish trap and three fish before noon with time to spare. Guess I did something right.

If you really fell off the sky and landed on nowhere. I doubt you would be able to find all these. If I'm trapped in a place where I could literally find used fish lines and lures. I wouldn't worry about getting resucued soon.

So basically if your lost you just need to find fishing equipment. Such as a perfectly good crankbait and fishing line.
