Fascinating. I used to live in Elizabeth Row at The British, Talywain, which was built to house workers for The British Ironworks. My Row was one of several such terraces. I believe that the former residents were forced to leave in the early 1960's; I read a story of a merchant seaman who come home to find that his family had been relocated. Elizabeth Row was rebuilt by a local builder, Keith Bones, and a start was made on restoring others, but I think the company went bust. I took pictures of the unrestored houses, which was lucky as when I returned from holiday one time, they had all been demolished.

A wonderful photo story of a time gone by. How many of those industrial settlements remain now in Wales? All those people have now passed on. No community like it exists.
