@@BlaiseBrogan fyi Aluminium is the metal aluminum is the trade mark name for reynolds aluminum foil wrap made with Aluminium ... one can NOT trade mark a common element so they miss spelled it to get a trade mark name ... and all who use aluminum are using that trade mark name ... it's like holding gift wrap onto packages with Scotch Tape ... no people use Cellophane tape ... the other is a NAME BRAND trade mark name . so it is ALWAYS aluminium ... only the poorly educated use aluminum ... . once upon a time when this metal was new it went through several names Alumina aluminum and finally aluminium ... the final result is because it is a family of materials that have the same properties ... and they all ended with ium like titanium ..

was wondering if this would be more successful using low temperature solder rods melted and poured. Bright enough when freshly sanded and polished and should stay so when sealed in. Bit pricey though, but does not need to go full depth as filler could be used to bring level up

I have filled splits with epoxy, buy have never seen one done with aluminum. To bad the other side did not fill. It would have looked neat with the bowtie. Do you think the moisture in the wood caused the aluminum to cool to fast, not allowing it to completely fill.
@BlaiseBrogan6 жыл бұрын
Yes it was a shame but thats why I tried it on the bottom of the table first time. Yes its the moister that did it but not cooling too quick Im virtually certain that the vents were to small, I think with bigger vents it will fill completely. Next time I'm going for it on the top! in a couple of weeks hopefully. Cheers mate Blaise

That's cool. Might have to try that myself sometime. Wonder how it would look with molten copper?
@Baumscheibenkunst5 жыл бұрын
Copper has a much higher melting point and a higher heat capacity per volume. So you would probably burn more of the wood. It might still look cool though.
@brandongump16935 жыл бұрын
It would look more expensive. Lol
@Rick_Sanchez_C137_3 жыл бұрын
@@Baumscheibenkunst could do a sheet metal copper cutout for the bowtie, and a solder or pewter inlay behind it.... that’d be badass!

@@Rick_Sanchez_C137_ now that sounds really cool. I might give it a try.
@EvansBoatwork7 жыл бұрын
Lovely project. With lead, you can test the temp with a piece of paper by dipping it in the molten metal. If the temp is right it won't catch fire, therefore reducing the risk of burning your project - don't know about ali tho...
