MattHalf what’s wrong with the mix to you? The only thing I can gripe is there’s no clean vocal but I’m sure that was Blake’s choice.

@@onwardpilgrim Hi! I had totally forgotten about this comment (that I made 5 years ago), but thank you for addressing it. First and foremost, i LOVE this performance and good recordings of this particular band is very few and far between. Therefore I am also very glad that someone took the time and energy to record them in both audio and video. Now, for the mix itself, it does the job. Really. You can hear everything clear, there is no weird ambience slap back sound from the PA and it seems to have been recorded with some pretty fine gear. And therein lies my quarrel with it. It truly should have sounded better based on what I can see from the gear and the general audio quality. I don't think there has been put a lot of energy into the stems of the digital project files to get it sounding like a well mixed session. I could go on and on about the details of everything I would have done differently (being a semi professional mixing engineer and producer myself) but that really is not the point of my comment. A key word to define the major problems with this mix would be "time" and "headroom". None of which is presented well in this particular audio example. Again, love the band, love the performance, love that someone has made the video and put it up on KZbin for the world to enjoy. Stay safe, healthy and indoors. KZbin helps with the latter. Much love.

@@Matsbh89 to be fair, this has really grown on me since the first time i watched it... something albini-esque about how ridiculously dry/separated it is

While I do appreciate this and everything everyone else said unfortunately I personally think this version loses its catchy pop feeling that the album version has. Just my opinion.

interesting! i think it's almost an entirely different song, much rawer, groovier. i can't tell which one i like more.

I have a theory that being a musician is really boring. why else would artists always fuck around with their already good versions of their songs when they're singing them live? they're just plain bored of singing them the same and don't care that it usually ruins the song.
