They played this at a WW2 Marines memorial. There wasnt a dry eye in the house. Even veteran Marines were crying their eyes out. They stood proud but the tears just flowed like rivers from their eyes. When the final salute came, their jaws were set like granite but the tears were still there. Semper Fi Marines.

You can always tell the combat vets from the major wars. They are always quiet, reserved and want nothing more than peace. They have seen the other side and they all say it is the worst of mankind. I can feel the emotion through the music... sadness and sorrow, but more profoundly the selflessness, honor and sacrifice. I always think of my uncle Raymond, my dad's kid brother, who was a Marine infantryman, wounded, and sole survivor of his squad that departed 29 Palms CA in 1943. PTSD for the rest of his life. He died alone, a bachelor, in the same studio apartment he lived in for 40 years. 😢

Hearing this makes me think back to my last deployment to Iraq. My unit was across the street from Sadr City and we were cut off and surrounded for 73 days. I had the honor of serving and fighting along with some of the bravest and most selfless men I ever met in my military career. During that deployment I lost two good friends and this makes me wish I could go back and say thank you for being my friend. I miss them all so much and the end makes me think of the homecoming after that deployment when I finally got to hold my infant daughter in my arms for the first time.

Hey,your a warrior my friend and warriors always think of their fallen brethren. Do the best you can,and know that's all one can do. I've never experienced war, thanks to men like you. But my grandfather was in the hurtgen forest, battle of the bulge in ww2. Also a POW. He never talked about the war. Only bits here and there. But he never let what he experienced rule him. He devoted his time to family, work and God. And fishing too:) All I can say is thank you,and honor your brothers by,living and being a good father. You'll do well I'm sure..god bless you.

The emotion, flow and passion of this performance is as perfect as one can get. Even with mediocre audio, the feeling of this performance comes through the speakers unlike any I’ve heard. The crying violin is masterful. The conductor perfectly articulates his desired emotion to the orchestra and they in turn do not disappoint in returning his wishes. It’s a simple song but the chords and disharmony perfectly articulate what the writer is trying to say. Every note is where it should be. A sad but proud song that honors the men who fought in the Pacific it truly is.

From the opening bell, to the last final draw of the violins, I am with such a deep heavy heart. They gave everything they had and more... and we, owe them, so much more... If , by the end of this, you're not moved in some manner, check your pulse. To every single one and the family members that I read so often from, this old tired veteran salutes you. me too right now.. I've lost everyone I ever loved, they all died.. sometimes I don't know how to carry on and wish it would have been me instead of my mother and brother but when I hear this kind of soundtracks it brings back hope and pride. I loved those tv shows. not because they're cool or shit. But because it shows you that you are not alone . I've never served but always found to be closer to the characters in the series instead of people I know for real. Because those people (in the series) know what it's like to loose somebody, and give everything you have to offer, which most people my age have not experienced yet

My Father was also part of the 1st Marine Division and served on both Peleliu (18 days) and Okinawa (31 days) at the old age of 18 years old , receiving a Purple Heart in each battle. I have his book that the 1st Marines put out after WW2. On a map of the Pacific Ocean on the inside cover of that book, he wrote where he went, dates and where he was shot on each island. Every time I see parts of this incredible movie I think of him and the sacrifices of the men and women that did not make it home to their love ones. I cherish the memories of knowing such Men and Women of the greatest generation that gave so much for our freedom. He never talked to anyone about what he witnessed except for a few Marine buddies that would stop later as the years past. As an interesting side note: My dads job in the 60s and 70s was a beer truck drive and one of his delivery spots was NAS Whidbey Island, WA. He used to let me ride with him as a kid for the fun of it I guess. (you would never be able to do that today for sure) On one delivery we went into the Officers Club on the base. I still remember all these guys with medals on their chests coming up to my Father to shake his hand and talk to him. I thought at the time, why are they all talking to the delivery guy?. Later as I grew up, I learned of his war record and that moment in the officers club hit home. He was not a delivery guy to those fighting men. They were talking to one of "The Old Breed". His exploits were known among those that served. It did not matter who was an officer or some delivery guy. They were all fighting men and recognized that in him. RIP to all.

When hearing this its like a piece of history Its like when the ALLIES win the war in ww2 and almost shed tears to my eyes because it reminds me of the people died in the war and the bravery they fought (for the army thank you for your service)
